Cheap strap that holds air filter housing to vibrating tractor engine broke again. Think it's time to create bracket to hold filter housing to tractor instead of vibrating engine. Will this cause any problems with the rubber intake hose?

My brackets broke twice, currently am using 1/2 from each of the previous brackets but this time added silicone rubber washer between engine and bracket and didn't torque too tight. Has been hanging in for last couple of years now.

I'll assume that the BX2200 air filter bracket is simmular to my BX23. In 400 hours, mine has broken four times. Twice it was the lower bracket and twice it was the band that goes arround the air filter housing.
At 400 hours, I decided to re-engineer this poor design. I now have about 40 hours on the repair with no trouble.
The first picture is the bracket I made from the original piece that mounts to the engine. In the second picture, the bracket and the air filter clamp are bolted together. There was a conviently located hole in the rail that runs down the side of the engine surround that positioned the air filter assembly in the same position as it was, when attached to the engine. The intake tube lined up perfectly with the new bracet.
There is a little vibration that is passed through the rubber intake tube, but nothing approaching the violent vibration of the original mounting location. I hope you find this post helpful.

Ditto on that. I'm at 7 yrs & approx 600 hrs and I'm still on the original brkt....
I've never idled at the lowest setting as this is where it vibrates the most. When I'm idleing I always bump the rpm up to the sweet spot where it evens out nice and smooth. Perhaps this may be a contributing factor to the longevity of my BX23's air filter brkt as well as the other assemblys... This sweet spot is where I start and shutdown the engine.
Kubota, in it's zeal to try to isolate as much of the engines vibration from the operator as much as possible, mounts the engine to the frame via rubber insulators. This does a great job of isolating the vibrations from the Op but this mounting method also allows the engine to move more, especially at low idle.
I would recommend to those that "may" idle at the lowest rpm to bump up the rpm abit to where it smooths out. Additional fuel usage is minimal if any, the engine will still cool down just as well and taking away that violent vibration is good for the tractor in general. Ofcourse it's JMHO.
Good luck
Dave

Mine has always broken where it is mounted to the engine with 2 studs & nuts. Welded them back together several times.
Finally cut a piece of 1/4" plate to custom fit in the tight little area and drilled the holes. Then the legs were welded to the plate. It has held up much better as one solid mounting point rather than the two legs original method.
ibnxe has an even better solution - especially if strap breaking is a problem. I've never had the strap break (yet) but now have something to look out for.

The only thing that breaks is the strap. Cheap, thin, and always breaks where it is bolted to the bracket on the engine. I have made a bracket to mount to frame. Will post pictures if it works.
