I live in south eastern Ohio. I have approximately 100 acres. Of that 100 I mow perhaps 10 on aregular basis and maby another 10 in old loging roads on the property. I have maby 500 ft of gravel driveway that I would like to keep clean and level. Iwould like to clear maby another acre or so of multi florial and scrub. Sence I have alot of hill on my property the lower profile of the BX seems well suited for my use. I'am not a farmer nor do I pretend to be one ,so the BX would not be abused "I Hope" Is it enough tractor for my needs? Any comments would be appreciated.

How many times per year are you going to be mowing? It sounds like you might be on the upper end of a BX. If I had to mow 20 acres on a frequent basis, I would lean toward something that could pull a bigger mower (60" or 72").

I maintain a 4300' driveway with a B7500. I know I could do it with a BX, but I think it would be more of a struggle.

I keep agreeing with Glueguy but he will not let me! To set the record straight, once again, the BX, both the 2200 and then 1800 are equipped with a 60 inch--60inch--60inch mowing deck of 9 guage steel with three blades. Either tractor will easily mow heavy grass, alfalfa, weeds, small trees--whatever with their 60inch--60 inch---60inch mower. If my 2200 cannot use a 60inch deck howcome I have one slung under it neat as a pin. To answer your question, you may be at the upper end of the BX if other jobs are factored in but--my opinion based on use of both tractors that equipped with a 60inch deck the BX is a equal to a 7500. Move up to a 72 and then you may need the 2410. Good luck. J

This is a tough one. Hills do make the BX attractable, but with 100 acres, bet you will find the need for something larger over time. Regardless, please make sure you get a tiltmeter with those hills. Might want to start with a BX, and trade up. If taken care of, I suspect their value will be retained (or, at least, I hope they will /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

This past weekend we finished mowed our 10 acres with a B2710/72" deck and a BX2200/60" deck.I have never timed just how long this project takes, but I would say right at 4 hours. It's hard to tell when taking a lunch break, and for myself, several trips to the fridge for a little refreshment. We will do this every week through the mowing season, and sometimes twice a week. Now,unless you want to spend around 8-10 hours at a clip mowing,I would opt for a tractor that would handle at least a 6' finish mower.Even at that you're looking at a LOT of seat time.

I mow my yard + an acre or so weekly , the remaining fields and logging roads will be mowed bi-monthly or so. this dosn,t seem to me to be to much to ask of the BX. I plan to use the FIE to dig out multi floral rose, snow clearing ,etc. That said , I am retired at 53 I might add "eat your hearts out" so time is not an issue. I still believe the Bx is the one for me , as I said before the stability on hillsides being the main factor. Comments??? Thanks ; John

John, if you like the BX go get it. I have found that ground clearance most of the time is not an issue and the compact dimensions and stability allow me to take it places conventional compacts could not go. It has the capability you need though with as much land as you have I could certainly see you getting something a lot larger. If money were no object then a BX and a L3010 would be my choice but when we looked at tractors I think I would look silly mowing my lawn on such a machine. Further, despite information contrary on another thread and it depends of course on high up you might trade in the future, the implements you purchase for a BX would certainly be suitable for a 7500/2410. I do not think you should purchase something small now because you cannot afford the bigger one you want and then trade up--that is a waste of money--get what you want and if that is a BX--then welcome to BX ownership. Yeppers dudes that is a 60 inch deck /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif . Y'all take care now. J

Sorry 3T, didn't mean to offend you. When I was talking about the mower, I was in "brushhog mode". If you read the Kubota limitations, they actually limit this type of mower to 40" or so (for smaller tractors). That said, my "mower" is a 48", that attaches to the 3PH.

When you speak of mid-mount or other "finish" type of mowers, it's a whole different story, and you are completely correct.

I didn't mean to confuse the issue, & I'm sorry for that. Sometimes when you try to simplify something too much, you end up making a mess of it./w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
