I am having a hard time deciding on getting a B7500 or BX22. I am planning on using it for mowing my 4 acres of pasture about 80% of the time and using the FEL for knocking down and burying a large block barn for the other 20%. Now that the BX22 is available (includes a BH for about $2000 more than B7500 with 302 FEL), I can't make up my mind. Is the BX22 strong enough to use for picking up many cubic yards of masonary block? Am I going to be able to dig a pit with the BX22? How useful is a BH for picking through the ruble?

I'm not sure about the specs of the B7500 but I can tell you the BX22 will mow your pasture just fine. I use mine to mow about 5 acres and it looks great. I have the 60" MMM. The backhoe comes in handy but I'm not sure if it would be up to the task of picking through rubble or not. I'd get the B7500 if that model has a bigger chassis and HP rating just to be safe. You could always add a backhoe later.

I have a B7500, R4, FEL, 60MMM. Bought new Dec '01. I tried both BX and B I really liked both. Truth be told I went with the B because it was bigger and I had more fun on it! I felt that the BX was a fine machine. The only negitive I could find was the BX did not offer R4 tires. Reading the posts on this site I'm sure you will find many, many very happy BX owners who have done a lot of work with them.

Good Luck,

I bought my B7500 in September 2000 and have done a lot of work; moved/spread about 750 yards of topsoil, built several stone walls, moved snow in the winter, mow the grass, ...

But. some of the stones were too big, so I needed to rent L48.
I needed to do some major digging to pull out some very big stumps and dig a long trench in a wet area and therefore rented a tracked KX-121, twice, and a KX-161 once.

If I were to do it again I would have probably gone with the bx2200 since from now on out that my major work is finished, all I need is a mower to cut 1.5 acres of finished lawn and move snow in the winter.

If I were in your shoes I would get the BX2200 and rent a KX-121(161) for a day or two to tear down and bury your barn.
I am not expert but I have some good experience using a couple of back-hoes. I STRONGLY do not think the BX22 or 7500 will do the job. I am assuming your barn is pretty big and thus these two machines will not have the reach to dig a deep enough hole to bury the pieces. Going with the BX2200 and renting the heavy equipment as you need it, you'll end up with a nice machine to cut your grass in the end, and also get your job done with less money spent in the end.

Good Luck.

Either the 7500 or the BX2200 or BX22 are great units. I do not think any of them are great at "knocking" over old buildings and burying them. This would be to much for even the larger B series and old masonary rubble would beat the heck out of your expensive loader and backhoe. I would rent a larger machine for the initial teardown and burial and then get a BX2200 to finish up cleaning and then do the other 99% of the work your place will need done--mostly mowing, landscaping and grading, playing etc. J

In agreement with the other posts here, get the major job done, then determine what your needs are. Caveat though, is if you have the time, determination, and inclination to do this the BX with a BH is capable, however you may want to consider the next step up to a B21TLB for historical reliability, and commercial grade utility.
