Hi guys: I just purchased a BX22 with mower for my yard and some contract work (90% backhoe work), and parents yard. Does anyone have any suggestions for the rubber feet? They cost like $200 through Kubota/dealer I think that is NUTS for $5 worth of rubber! The tractor is just like many past units and I just needed a backhoe.

So any help on the rubber feet? The BX22 has taken out tress and some bushes. A very nice machine (but uses a lot of fuel). The hard part is disconnecting the backhoe onto a "dolly" so I can move it around in the garage. I keep hitting the "orange paint". I got a process down. If you need it let me know. It takes about 3 minutes but it is worth the time.

I am puzzled by your comment "but uses a lot of fuel". This is counter to what nearly everyone has found. What are you comparing it to ?

I burn less than 1/2 gal/hr mowing at a fast clip. It is about 3 to 4 times better than my old tractor w/a 20HP Kohler gas V twin.

This has been my experience as well. I have about 7 hours on this tank of fuel and the guage still reads over 1/2 (BX2200). /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif My old Wheel Horse would burn more than a gallon of gasoline an hour (20 HP Kohler).

Paul: I have used my BX22 for about 3.5 hours and have gone through 1/2 tank. That is alot compared to my fathers diesel Deere and my old Ford 1220. The only thing I can think of is the backhoe "needs" more fuel. Ha whatever

Ha, do not get me wrong I still love the machine /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

jdf : This is what I do: It still takes about 5 minutes to do this

1. Make a 2 foot by 4 foot dolly (D1) (I used 2 by fours)

2. Make a smaller frame 1 foot by 14 inch (D2) or whatever you want so the bucket is able to slide on the top of D1

3. Put D1 directly parallel with backhoe arms under the backhoe starting on the feet end.

4.Put D2 under the backhoe bucket BUT on top of the large dolly (opp end)

5.Put feet down on the ground to raise the complete assembly so you can unlatch per the manual

6.Now rise, using the feet, JUST to over the part where the hoe assembly sits (like crows feet).

7.Now using the controls, move the back arm (with bucket) away from the unit

8. This will cause the a ssembly to rotate away from the tractor

9. BE CARFUL TO NOT HIT THE PAINTED PART. IT DOES COME VERY CLOSE.

10. Now the backhoe is over and out of the latching part.

11. Now sitting on the tractor and facing back bring in the bucket toward the tractor (all the way) AND SLOWLY move the tractor forward at the same time. This will move the backhoe toward the tractor BUT keep an eye in the HYD lines.

12. You might need to LOWER the feet so that when you are bringing it closer it does not hit the paint.

13. Now make sure hoe is under dolly

14. Make sure arms and all of back hoe is in a nice tight package. (All up and together)

15. Raise the feet so that the backhoe sits on the large dolly

16. Shut off tractor, release Hyd pressure, disconnect lines and you are done

17. It will take a few times but it is worth it. Now you can move the backhoe all around. I made a dolly for the loader as well

I will take pictures tonight to aid in this process.

Thank you very much - I appreciate the details! Can't wait to get my new baby Kubota home next week.

Seeing your other interests, I have to share that fact that I brought another new toy home today, my new baby Beemer F650GS! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Why would you need rubber feet on a 22.
Are you doing road work?
If you sliding, try flipping the over and the pointy side down into the ground.
Or weld 6" corner spikes to it.

I believe the original poster is refering to the optional protective pads avialable for the backhoe stablizer arms. The metal feet on them can and will damage some surfaces that you may not want to damage...like that nice asphalt driveway, etc.

To the original poster, there was a thread I saw a while back where someone made them from sections of an old truck tire tear-off.
