I've been looking(drooling) over the BX22 for a little while now. I've touched and smelled it. Next is a test drive. Today's question....... 10" or 12" bucket for the backhoe? My tasks......dig some water features, trenching for downspout drainage, dry wells, small tree planting/removal, flower beds, drain tile installation, and probably other things I can't even think of right now. I'm sure my brother and parents will share their lists with me, too/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
A larger difference between sizes available would make it an easier decision. I'd like to have two sizes but it doesn't seem to make sense for only 2" difference. I hope somebody will/does make a......maybe 8". In that case I'd go for both. Comments or caveats on this subject will be greatly appreciated. C

Stopped at Kubota dealer today south of Detroit. They had a shiny new BX22 on the show room floor. If I didn’t already have a 2910 in the barn that one would be on it’s way to my place. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
If you want to dig out a pond then go with the larger one. The buckets run about $350.00 for a 10” over $400.00 for the 12”. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
After some thought I ordered the 10" for my '22. I figured that since most of my digging would be landscaping and smaller trenching, the 10" might be a better size. I also reasoned that even with a 10" I can always make the hole or trench wider with another bite, but it's hard to get 'em narrower. Also I felt that the slightly smaller bucket would have a bit more "bite" in our shale soil. Nice is that the teeth are bolt on and can be removed for straight edged trenching.
Ron - Who did you visit? Carleton....Dan's in Adrian??? I 've seen the one at Carleton. Is this the dealer you bought your 2910 from? If so, any comments on your purchase and after purchase experience? I get my old Cub parts from Carleton and I'm leaning toward them when I pull the trigger. C
Paul - Those were kinda' my thoughts too. Plus....the 12" would get my work or is that play/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif done sooner and I wouldn't want that to happen.
Are you still waiting?? I'm anxiously waiting for some feedback/postings on digging with the backhoe!! C
It was due to be delivered yesterday. As luck would have it, they were running behind, and also they needed to replace a hose on the front hitch (for the snowblower). Got a "well early next week". So I went to one of the owners and complained a bit. He scheduled OT for the service guy for today and made arrangements for a truck to deliver it as well. It's 8:30 AM and it should be delivered by around noon today. I'll let you know.

I stopped at the Carleton store. I have not bought anything from them. But I have a couple of friends that deal with them. They have no complaints about sales or service. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
I purchased my 2910 from Foote Tractor in Novi. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Ron - I've also been to Foote. How has your experience been with them? They're actually closer than Carleton and his verbal numbers on the BX22 slightly better than Carleton. The problem I'm having is I've been dealing with Carleton for a few years now for my old Cub parts. I had one service experience with Carleton and it went just fine.
I like both places. I sat and talked with Jim at Foote for quite awhile and we seem to have a lot of common interests. We got along just fine. I'm soooooo confused/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif.
The one thing Carleton has going for them is they have the BX22 in stock. I actually took a test drive yesterday!!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Keith pointed me toward a dirt pile and said have at it. I'll post a test drive comment tomorrow after I've wiped the huge grin off my face. C

I don’t think you can go wrong with either dealer. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Jim at Foote and I live in the same community, every time I stop there we will get into a conversation about something. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif It was his suggestion that led me to putting the heavy-duty top link bracket on my 2910. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif
Ron - From spending a bit of time on this website, I guess we're pretty lucky to have two good Kubota dealers close enough to deal with. Pretty nice problem to have/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. C
