What rpm’s do you all use when cutting grass. I have been using around 2500.

Think the PTO speed on our 18.5 hp 4010 was 3000. That's what I used on it. Used 0.46 gpm its 9 year life and 660 hours.

On the 1025R and 2025R, don't need all that hp; so, run them at 2500 rpm. PTO speed is 3000.

Looked it up. PTO speed on your BX 1870 is 3200 rpm.

After break in 50 hours go full throttle for mowing machines. During 50 hours break in go full throttle and then back off just enough that you can tell you backed off a bit, not much but a bit. Took me years and many, many Kubotas to accept and believe and do this but now is the way I run all diesel powered Kubotas that are used for mowing grass.

Thank you. I have never run anything at full throttle before. I will give that a try.

Walkbehind mowers, chain saws, grass whips, etc. are all run at full throttle.

I mow at high RPM when the situation dictates.

Tall, heavy grass, max RPM (or for whatever the RPM is for the implement is listed on the tach, like 2500/540/1000 -- usually will have arrows or indicator marks for each). My BX2200 doesn't have a tach, so it's just max throttle.

Low grass or a simple manicure, medium RPM to save some fuel.

Remember: Always start an implement at a low RPM, then slowly raise it up. Never start an implement at full bore.
