Kubota BX1860
So I got two quotes now.

Mahindra 1815hst for 11800 with 0% for 48 months (10700 with 0% for 36 months).
Kubota bx1860 for $12150 with 0% for 60 months.

Both have a front end loader and 54 inch mid mount mowers.

The Mahindra can carry more, but I've heard the Kubota is a better mower.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Ignore that, the Mahindra dealer just came back and said he didn't quote me the mower, and that its $2150.

That isn't a surprise. Mahindra dealers always quoted prices that pretty well matched Kubota prices, on comparable models. So, it just is going to come down to which dealer do you like and which tractor you prefer from the seat.

The Kubota is a mower tractor with a loader on it, and the Mahindra is a loader tractor with a mower on it. The 1815 is a heavier tractor, and the main thing the 1815 has a full category 1 3PH where the sub compact BX1860 doesn't. The Kubota is just plain a smaller tractor. Now depending on your needs either tractor could be your better buy.

Well I need the tractor or a 3 acre lot. The main function will be mowing.

What does the category 1 3hp mean?

The lift arm system on the back of a tractor has some standard sizes to fit standard implements. Catagory 1 is very common and used on tractors all the way up to 45 or so HP. The sub compacts came out and the category 1 implements can be gotten on them if you get one side on and then jockey it arround to get the other side on. The arms won't open wide enough to put both sides on. Once you have the implement on the sub compacts won't lift many of them high enough. There are some companies now making special implements that fit on the sub compacts. I am just saying if this is an important fact to you, your neighbor has a standard category 1 rotatiller and you want to borrow or buy it from him, it will fit and work better on the 1815 Mahindra than it will on the BX1860 Kubota. I guess what I am trying to say is the Mahindra 1815 is more comparable to the B series Kubota than the BX series.

Actually, Kubota improved the geometry on the BX 3 pt hitch a few models back and it is full Cat 1. The arms open to almost 31-32" with the keeps slack, so I think the description of the BX being unable to open wide enough to accommodate "standard" 26" Cat 1 implements is a bit off mark. Lifting them high enough IS a concern with any subcut, which is low to the ground.

That said, the Mahindra may indeed be slightly more comparable to a Kubota B series given it's weight, larger wheels and tires (?), but only in SOME ways. But the Kubota B series has a 3 range hydro and some other features that make it a class superior to the Mahindra 1815, and likely costs a bit more, as well.

I think the point is that while comparing is fun, matching up perfectly in comparison isn't always possible or necessary. Check them out for yourself and make a decision based on what's best for you.

At the risk of stating the obvious, 3PH is short for 3 point hitch. This are the three arms/links used to attach implements to the rear of a tractor. There are various categories (1, 2, 3) somewhat reflecting size and capacity of the hitch.

Hope this helps...

Yeah, I think the 3 point hitch on an 1860 will do anything you want. The 3ph is on the back and would be for a brush hog, landscape rake, box blade etc. This may or may not be something you need, but do a google search on 3 point hitch implements and that can give you an idea of what is out there.

Ok so basically the bx1860 can now handle most cat 1 implements? but it won't lift them? Well I am probably looking mostly at garden/grass implements, so spreaders, aerator, etc. I don't think it can handle nor will I need a backhoe.
I am really leaning towards the bx1860 right now, although for 2K more I can get the bx2360 with a 60 inch MMM, which is really tempting but I don't think its worth 2K to me.
So its $12150 a good price for the bx1860 with the 54inch mower, and the front end loader? or should I keep talking to other dealers? no one else in town came within 2K of that price, I'll have to try out of town.
