Kubota BX1800
I own the 1999 BX1800, FEL, 54" MMM, 800hrs.
Down the street is a 2001 B2910, 60" MMM, FEL, 180hrs for $12,500.

I drove the B2910, its certainly bigger, heavier. I like the mobility of the BX, but like the HP and clearance of the B2910. Is a 2910 OK for a lawn or too heavy? About 2 Acres to mow, and 2 acres for gardening and tractoring.
Thanks.

The 2910 is certainly an upgrade from your 1800, but you need to ask yourself...........is it worth it?

It is heavier, will let marks in the grass (depending on moisture/ground/ETC.)

You didn't say how big your garden was on your 2 acres.

I have 2 acres, 1 acre wooded, with a large garden.........and although a larger tractor with more ground clearance would help............it just isn't feasable.

I had to fence the garden, cause the rabbits got in...........no need for a tractor for cultivation any longer.

With a larger tractor, I would need to cut down even more tree limbs to go under.

I'm satisfied that I made the correct choice for my property, with my GC2400.

Bigger isn't always better.:)

A lot of us mow with the bigger tractors and a RFM. My B7800 is almost identical in size to a B2910. I have mowed my yard with it for 5 years now with no negative effect. Yes, you can go too heavy. I traded in a 3,200 pound MF135 for my B7800 because it was just too much weight for my yard. My B7800 is pretty nimble for its size. When you get into the 30HP range tractors a whole new world of implements opens up.

IMO, it is too heavy but there are lots of guys here using heavier compacts to mow with than a 2910. My suggestion is to mow a piece of your lawn with it and see for yourself. If this 2910 is available with turf tires that would be a help.

I use a Deere x749 on occasions when I am in a hurry but most of the time I use a riding mower (L130) that is closer to 500 lbs to mow my own lawn.

Ideally it is better to have a light weight mower and a heavier tractor but that is two machines.

Trying the equipment first would be the best choice. My "trim mower" is a Gravely 16G with a 54" deck. It weighs 1,300 pounds. The heavier the equipment the more soil compaction. Compacted soil is bad. Its a trade off. A fluffy yard or a machine that will do everything you want around the farm. Perfect for me would be a ZTR and my tractor. I can't afford both so the tractor has to do it all.

My dad had a Gravely years ago have no idea what model it was but he had very few problems with it. Later when my brother and I were bigger he had simple pushmowers and we were the operators. He would sit back smoke a cigar and direct us.

At my own place I can do just about everything with the box store riding mower, trimming mower and a string trimmer. The larger equipment played a major role is getting the place in shape though.

I paid $9500 for my B2910 w/60"MMM and 130 hrs. I'd say the price is about right.

I loved mowing with my B2910. It did a better job of mowing than my JD455. You had to watch getting on the lawn early in the Spring when soft. Also struggled a little getting under trees. Otherwise I loved it. Best part was I also had a tractor that handled a BB or any other attachment with ease. I built a 3pt log splitter for it also. Great sized Compact tractor with all the bells and whistles including tilt/telescoping steering wheel, arm rest suspension seat, cruise control, individual brakes, position control 3pt, extendable 3pt arms. Argueably the best 30hp B series compact tractor Kubota has built.

Here it is parked beside the JD455 for size comparison.
