I am looking to get a BX model and there is a BX1800 at the local dealer that I might get at $7900.00 (tractor only)Is that a good price ?
And also I dont see many discussions on the BX1800 . Is the BX1800 underpowered ..?I will be using the FEL and boxblade
I am going to get the FEL and boxblade for it as well .
Is the BX1800 underpowered or just not as popular ..

I have a BX 1800. The choice I had at the time was an 1800 with turf tiers or a 2200 with bar tires. The dealer told me I woudn't notice a difference in power for my tasks so I took the 1800 to save the grass. I have a fel, 48in rear finishmower, rear blade and post hole digger. I don't think that I've run out of power yet. While one can argue that 22 is better than 18. So far it has been a non-issue to me. I wouln't ever refer to my BX 1800 as underpowered. I would say the limiting factors on the BX is weight, clearance and TPH issues. Other than the "mine is bigger than yours" argument, I don't think there is much difference.

Of course, that's just my opinion....

Thanks for the information Dave ,,
I am looking to get the BX model because of the size , I only have 1/2 an acre to fool with ,,So I dont think I will use it to death ,, Also trying to justify the money to the better half..

Thanks

I have a 2200 and find it has more than enough power to the point that it is almost overkill with the FEL and rear blade or 54" mower. The only time I can manage to put a serious load on the engine is with the snowblower in the winter. I have a neighbor with an 1800 and he has nothing but good to say about his too. Another consideration is that the 1800 might use a bit less fuel but one would have to run both machines side by side for a real comparison there.

I have the BX1800 with 60" Mid mount mower I bought it last June and have put 105 hours on it. I have yet to find the end of it's power. I have mown 12" - 16" tall field grass without even making it sweat. When I bought my BX the dealer wanted another $750 for the BX2200, and he also said a person would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two units since they are pretty much the same tractor and both units handle the same size impliments. To me it was $750 saved because I just haven't missed the power. I've used my BX to mow, pull some small stumps and other basic yard work I have a 50" 3pt snowblower ordered for it and anticipate it will also handle it just fine. As for price, I paid $9950 for the BX and the 60" mower.

If the price is right, I wouldn't sweat the HP difference. The 2200 will have the same limitations as the 1800 due to weight, frame size, etc..

I have the BX2200 and have to admit it actually often seems overpowered. I have several times been left spinning all 4 wheels in 4wd with the rear-diff locked when trying to pull something. The limiting factor for these sturdy little tractors seems to be traction and the travel on the 3 point hitch.

I can't imagine that the BX1800 is underpowered. For both models it's just a question of choosing the right sized implements and taking smaller bites than for larger tractors. They are definitely both tough enough to get the job done with power to spare.

The only remaining advantages I can think of for my BX are where you may need a couple of extra horses on the rear PTO - like for a PTO generator. Also, when the power starts to fade in 10 years time (maybe) it will be a little stronger for a little longer. But these are really marginal benefits.
