Mine is a 2003 BX1800, and I "thought" I ran it out of diesel....but its not firing when I try to restart.

I think ive isolated it down to the fuel pump (ie:its dead) but wanted to ask the brains trust if there was any other way to bleed the fuel line?

I loosened the screw on the point where the fuel comes into the injector pump (under the air filter box) and turned it over but nothing came out...and neither when I pulled the fuel hose off at that point...hence my conclusion that the $100 part is the reason my midget is sitting in the middle of the yard....

Oh and yes.....theres fuel in the tank and it pours out when I pull the hose off the filter on the tank side of the pump....
Cheers in advance

Have you made sure the filters aren't clogged?

There are two filters. One before the lift pump and one after.

If you are changing out the lift pump, I highly recommend servicing (replace) the fuel filters.

Here is a link for an aftermarket one on ebay for 23.99 and free shipping. States for a BX1860 or BX2200. Hard for me to imagine that the 1800 and 2200 would use different pumps, but I guess it is possible.

I would probably try one of these first. I got lucky with a fuel cut off solenoid for my BX that was 20 percent the cost of the Kubota part, and works fine.

If the link does not work, just do a search on Ebay if interested.

Edit: Also be careful loosening fuel lines on the injector pump. If you loosen the lines going to the injectors at the pump end, you can cause something to shift inside (from what I have read) and this is not a good thing and difficult to recover from. Loosen the lines at the injectors if needed, NOT at the pump.

Sure sounds like the lift pump, but also consider that the inline filters are very low capacity and can clog.
You should be able to hear and feel the lift pump if it's operating (key on).
I've used the inexpensive ebay pumps on my zd mowers with good results. Sure beats the gold plated Kubota pumps.
The BX and ZD machines all use 3-7 psi pumps... nothing special.
