bx1500

im still waiting for my 1500 to come in,it should be here by thursday.i was wondering if this tractor is up to par to take care of 2 acres and if anyone has any complaints with this machine.i would like to know before i sign on the dotted line.

This subject has been beat to death in past posts. There are people that own BX1500 tractors and they love them. Then there are people that own BX2200 tractors and loved them so much that they traded up to the BX22/23 just to get the backhoe option. I say, buy the biggest tractor in the BX series that you can afford without going over your allotted budget. I see the BX1500 as a good tractor, but I also feel that it is going to suffer a larger $$$ loss if you had to sell it in a couple of years. Generally speaking entry lever products don't hold their values as well as the models further up the performance chain. I have never heard anyone here ever say that their tractor had too much power, but I have heard people say that they wished that they had purchased a larger tractor. I have also noticed that a lot of people that own BX1800 & BX2200 tractors will trade up, but I don't ever recall anyone ever going from owning a BX1500 to a BX1800 or BX2200. If it were me, I would spend the extra $$ for the next size up tractor. Some people will say that the 6" that the BX1500 is shorter will make it easier to maneuver. Personally, I see that as hog wash. Six inches in anything as large as a tractor, never made much of a difference. Would your car be any more difficult to drive if it were 6" longer????

I disagree, disagree, and disagree with Junkman. Your planned use was not described in detail and your choice of tractors should be determined by how you are going to use it, not by a bunch of maybe's and jaw-wagging. Following Junkman's logic to the extreme, go get a 4WD 250hp JD. You have to stop the Upgrade logic somehere and the most logically stopping point is a 17hp JD from Home Depot. With two acres, I suspect you are a gentleman, yuppie farmer like myself with no real business owning a $10,000 tractor. I would not categorize the BX1500 as Entry Level by any means. It is a better choice than the larger BX22 if you are mostly going to use it as a mower and like the idea of having a front loader to carry heavy things around the yard and move rock and dirt with it. It has slightly better fuel economy (no big deal), is shorter, and Significantly Cheaper! On the other hand, it is built equally tough and will outlast your grandkids' grandkids if all you do with it is limited to two acres.

I never run out of power, and I run a 36" tiller and 42" box blade in addition to the FEL and 54" mower deck. I run out of traction before I run out of power.

As stated many times before, my kids are All (5) going to use the BX1500 to make summer spending money. The oldest is 15, youngest 3, so it has to last a while. I was tired of fooling with dumb things that broke or needed adjustment on my three prior normal vertical shaft riding mowers so I "went for it" with the BX1500.

Your mileage may vary. At this point I admit I'm all bluster! I got mine last November and haven't yet gone through a summer with it. I'm itchin to get back in the saddle.

If all you are doing is mowing, don't get a tractor. Get a good front-mount mower like a Walker or Great Dane, or any of the other good brands out there.

I have to agree with Dave. More information is needed to tell if the BX1500 is enough tractor for your needs. I have one on 2.5 acres and am happy with it.

I think the BX1500 will be fine for you. They seem like a great little tractor. I have an L3130 myself, but am thinking of in the next couple of years upgrading my lawnmower from my current 13hp Deere to a BX1500 with a 54" MMM, so I will be very interested to hear how you like it.

OK...the BX1500 will work fine for 2 acres. So will a Craftsman lawn tractor. If grass cutting is all you need...I am pretty sure this is a fact.

Now what would the BX2230 give you over a BX1500. Pretty much like Junkman said. I read his reply and meant to post something then, but got side tracked.

Last summer I had to decide what "small" Kubota to buy. I already had a B2910. In my case, I could just as easily bought a bx1500 or a bx2200. I chose the bx2200.

Why? Well, I did not like the 2 cylinder engine, I did not like the need for a weight being attached to it, and I though I would like having extra HP. I bought for the long term.

With tractors it seems like you get more for your money the with each step up in size. I could have got a lot more tractor for about the same money had I went with a L series rather than the B series when I bought my B2910.

The same holds true with the BX series. The BX2230 offers a 60 inch MMM deck, that is better constructed than the 54" decks, from my understanding. You get a 3 cylinder engine and more HP. These things may, or may not, matter in the future.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I had some tractor experience when I bought my bx. I decided that even though I did not need the BX2200, it gave me better value for the dollar than the bx1500 did. Just like the L series would have given me better value for the dollar than my B2910 did.

If you were a family member, I would advise you to go with the BX2200 if I thought you could afford the difference. And if you could not afford the difference, I would likely tell you to buy a Sears lawn tractor and smile for ten years while it did a good job of grass cutting... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

MY 1500 IS BEING USED FOR CUTTING MY GRASS.MOVING SOME DIRT ROCKS ETC AND I ALSO HAVE A FRONT MOUNTED SNOWBLOWER FOR MY PAVED DRIVEWAY WHICH IS 120 FT.I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THE 1500 HAS ENOUGH JUICE TO HANDLE THESE TASK.I APPRECIATE ALL OF THE INPUT
