I have been looking at a few remaining BX1500's. The ones remaining all have a 48"mmm. I have ask two dealers about the 54"mmm and both say it too big for the BX1500. Has anyone had any issues with a 54"mmm? I know it is an option from Kubota.
Its all in how you use the tractor. For most people, its just fine. If you really push the tractor into 6" high grass - its probably better to have the smaller one. Remeber, we're just talking 6" of width. Personaly, I prefer the larger one. It sticks out further and is easier to trim with.

With 2.5 acres..........I would opt fpr the 54" deck. I'm sure that the dealer told you that because he wants to unload the remaining BX1500's the way that they are already set up with the 48" deck's..........just my opinion.
Heavens no! Mowing heavy grass uphill with my 54" mower makes it grunt a little sometimes but never a problem. I have been very pleased with my BX1500 so far. It's one awesome little machine, you will love it.
I would only consider the 48" mower if the 54" was completely unavailable. Get it if you can. Get the FEL in a package deal too if you can.... you won't be sorry ) Enjoy!

I have a BX1500 with the 48"MMM and LA181 FEL for sale. 75 hours. $8250.00. Only mowed about 5 acres total. I only bought it really for the FEL. It has been kept in a barn.
Great little beast. Only selling because we just got an offer accepted on 47 acres and I think I may need a slightly larger tractor!
Let me know if anyone in NE Oklahoma is interested.
If you have (or want) a bagger, I would wonder about the 54". I know the 60" deck and bagger running full-tilt on the 2230 loads the engine a bit. If you're not bagging, I'm sure the 54" would work just fine. And I do very much like how much the deck hangs out past the wheels...safer to get in ditches and such as well as decreasing the "doughnut hole" when making a tight-radius cut.
