I finally got a few hours in on the BX last night. I have played a little bit with the FEL, but last night I decided to mow the lawn. What a machine! I pulled the FEL off for the first time (under 10 minutes), and went at it. I was able to get closer to obstacles than I could with my push mower. One area is on a slope that I need to go across while turning up - no stability problems. And the finish cut looked great!

Just needed to express my joy to folks who understand - the wife doesn't quite get why I am so excited about mowing!

What BX and what size and type of mower? Sounds like your happy. I'm getting ready to buy the BX22 with a 60" mower deck.

Ryan,
I know exactly how you feel. I'm very impressed with the whole machine but I wasn't expecting the mowing performance to exceed the machines utility performance.
WOW! is right.

1ton -

I am using a 54" mower on my BX. I debated the 60", but if you look at my profile I am on a very small residential plot of land. The 54" has been excellent for my place, and actually allows me to get closer to the obstacles than my puch mower ever did. If I had any land I'd have gone with the 60" though.

I'm very happy that you like the BX as much as I do. As you're finding out, the BX is one hell of a machine! It's amazing all the things I can do with the little beast. Usually, when you go for a machine that can do so many things, you give up the performance on a particular item, like mowing. Not so with the BX. I've put 720 lbs in the FEL, Tilled acres of ground, Pulverized rough clay, plowed snow, dug driveways, and it cuts grass as nice as a golf course! I can certainly understand the need for a bigger machine in some circumstances...heck, I'd like a 3010, but I'd still want my BX around.

funny you should mention a golf course... I work for the grounds department at a nice course back home in Maine and we have a little BX. We don't mow with it, but it is a very nice tractor. We use it for small loader work, snow plowing, and landscape raking. It goes well with our L2850 (used only for FEL and box blade work), L3250 (used for random projects), JD 1050 (I have yet to see it used for something other than pulling the dump trailer), a large NH (used for high PTO HP projects like wood chipping and trenching), and our new Case 580M backhoe. The BX is the easiest to use in my opinion!

I have BX2200, 60" deck and was really woried it might be to big & clumbsy and not a quality cut, well you all know how wrong I was.

I was also impressed with the MMM . It will chew up anything thrown in front of it. My back field looks like a golf course fairway when I am done./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have heard nothing but good about the BX 60" MMM. Did you look into a mulching kit or is there such a monster for the 60"mmm??

There is a mulching kit available - I have one out in the garage right now. I haven't installed it yet - I need to drill a couple of holes and I haven't had the time to do it right. Basically all the kit is is some steel plates that bolt in to cover up the chute and to provide better airflow underneath.
