Took the loader off the BX22 a couple of weeks ago and today got around to putting on the BX front mount snowblower. I tried the Quick Hitch in both up and down prior to mounting the blower and it worked perfectly. Installed the blower, and now the valve won't lift the blower. Fiddled with it for more than an hour, and it still won't work in the up position. If I shut the tractor off, and disconnect and reconnect the hoses, it will lift it one time, and then stop. I also hooked up my hydraulic motor that rotates the chute, and found that if I place the loader valve in the up position, and move the loader valve to the right, that the lift mechanism will work. It will lift and turn, but just not lift. Any suggestions as to what is wrong with the valve? I know that the hoses are correct. In fact, I swapped the hoses and the lift works on the tilt and curl circuit. The tractor is about 4 years old with under 300 hours. Thanks Dusty

I'd suspect one of two things, either one of the blowers couplings isn't makeing correctly or theres alot of air in the blower.

You may try reconnecting your FEL to see if the problem stays or goes away.

Good luck

I have connected and disconnected these hoses about 10 times. If there was air in the lines, then it would have purged itself by now. I have been reading some of the old posts with loader valve problems, and the most common problem is the caps at the end of the loader valve. Has anyone with a early model BX ever encounter a problem with this part of the valve. I would put the loader back on, but it has already been put out to pasture in the back 40. Too much work to take everything off and put the loader on, only to find that I still have the problem. I know it has to be in the valve, but just don't know what to do to fix it. If it lifts when you move the lever to the curl / lift circuit, it has to be in the valve. Dusty

There have been several posts of water freezing up in the caps on the FEL control assembly which caused certain operations not to function.
The fix was to drill a small "weep" hole at the bottom most part of the 2 caps to allow for the condensation to have a route out of the cap.
The cap can be easily removed to clean it out and drill the hole. Just be careful as there is a spring in there.
I recommend getting a WSM or download the parts manual on the BX before disassembly.

I guess if the FEL has been put up for a while that condensation in the caps can be the culprit. Mainly the condensation gets into the caps via sitting out in the weather and/or snow melts and leaks into the control.
I keep my BX in the dry and haven't had this problem.

Course I still recommend trying the FEL before I would go deeper. But thats just me....

Good luck

I took the cap off and found a few drops of water, but no rust or any other problems that I could see. When I removed the cap, the pieces fell out in my hand. I put the 4 balls back in on the side, then put the spring up the center. Pushed the one large ball in at the end of the spring, slid the collar on over everything, with the identification ring pointed down, and then put the cap back on. I am guessing that this is the way that it belongs. I couldn't see any other way to put it back together, unless the large ball is retained higher up the shaft by the 4 smaller balls. If this is the case, then I don't know how you would hold everything together. Haven't had time to put it back on the tractor, and I will wait to hear if I assembled it correctly. There was already a weep hole drilled in the base, but it doesn't seem large enough to drain.
Thanks Dusty

Thanks for the pictures, but unfortunately, the BX 22 4 way loader valve is different. The dealer in NH that I have gotten some things from in the past is sending me a copy of the work shop manual pages along with the parts pages. I have it back together, but not on the tractor yet. Once it is on the tractor, I will know for certain. Thanks again for the help... Dusty

Had the same problem with my valve. I am pretty certain that this problem only affects the float position on the valve.

How did you fix it? I put everything back together, and I have lost the float, and the valve doesn't work any better. Looks like a trip to the dealer in the spring to get it fixed. I can live with the problem for the winter. No snow means no problems...
