I assumed that having installed a Bro-Tek Rear Skidplate on my BX24 from new, that the HST fan would be safe from damage. I was wrong - as revealed in a recent service when the plate was removed and revealed the fan with no blades.

So this is just a heads-up call for other BX owners not to make the same assumption. Even if you have a skid-plate installed I'd suggest a periodic check that your fan is still there. Unfortunately I have no evidence how or when the fan was damaged but I'll consider adding additional protection after the fan is replaced.

We bought front and rear for our BX's, anytime the MMM is off the front plate will go on.

For the record, Bro-tek makes 3 plates for the BX: rear, mid, and front. I've got all 3 mounted on my '24.

If Richard made a 4th plate, I'd have that too...

I wasn't aware of the front plate, it is not on the web site, do you have any pictures? I am in the process of buying another set of BX wheel spacers as well as a set for our JD2305, so I may include a front plate.

FWIW, I also made a guard for the front axle input shaft seal. Tall grass got through the slot in the stock "guard" or crawled up the shaft and wiped out the seal. So far, so good...

Thanks, I will send that to my son and see about fabricating one the next time he has time. We are trying to "up-armor" our BX2200 and use it for the rough stuff and spare the BX2660 and reserve it for lawn mowing.

Hmmm this makes me lean towards the B series Kubotas...
