If you stand behind a BX2200 (and I would imagine an 1800 also), If you lift the seat and look sort of behind the tank, there are three wires. One is square and is not connected to anything. The round black one appears to have a female mate but is not connected. My freinds is the same way. What are these for??? Should they be hooked up?
It doesnt seem to effect performance being disconnected. Perhaps this is a noise generation device that the dealer forgot to hook up this time!!! ;^)

That's for adding cool stuff like work lights, stereos and radar detectors.

Radar detector? I went with the BX because it wasn't aerodynamic like the T and TG!
I don't think it needs a radar detector!
Maybe a full time mechanic, but not a radar detector.

Maybe you could explain why there is a single white wire in the engine compartment? The wire is switched to hot when the key is on. (Part of the wiring assemble harness.)
Maybe for a horn?

Have'nt noticed that one yet. Did take a quick look at the rear wires. Red/white is hot with key on, that's for work lights, (shown in schematic) the black wire is ground,(also shown) the blue/white wire is also hot with key on,(not shown in schematic) that one is for the radar detector. I'll check on the white one.

I'm still stuck on your round black friend who has a female mate but isn't connected. Hope things work out for them.

Connecting up wires of questionable function to one another without a load device inserted may release the "magic" smoke that makes such things as tractors make motor noises. Once the smoke is released it may be diffucult and costly to get the smoke back in. I have learned this lesson many times. I installed fog lamps once on my Renault long ago, they made lots of smoke and the wire went off like a "zip" cord. We were late for work and my wife said--we have to stop and go home and now we will be late--I said why? it is still running so let's not stop. Once stopped it would not start again and it took a NASA scientist -really--he was--to figure out all those Renault wiring diagrams and reinsert the smoke into the poor thing. Viva le Renault. Do they own New Holland? J

Clarification on the hot wires, please. Are the red/white and blue/white wires both hot with the key on, or is one of them hot when the front headlights are on? Seems that one switch for the front lights and the work lights might make sense, unless the switch couldn't handle both loads.

Both are hot with the key on. (lights or no lights) Not really sure what the blue wire was intended for being that it does'nt show up on the wiring diagram.

As far as the white wire in the engine compartment:
The BX1800 has the D722 engine with the fuel stop solenoid that momentarily pulls the fuel linkage to the off position to shutdown the tractor, mounted just below and behind the air filter. The BX2200 has the D905 engine which has a solenoid that continuously holds the fuel on and is powered as long as the engine is running, mounted to the rear of the injection pump. The wire harness for both models is the same but the two engine shutdown systems are wired different. The BX1800 requires only the white lead near the air filter for the system to operate. On the BX2200 it requires a 3 wire connecter to the solenoid and the white lead to the "motor side" of the starter. The continuous solenoid, being smaller needs more help to initially engage the fuel rack, once the start position is released and the solenoid has engaged, it is held in position by the red/black wire in the 3 wire connector.
So the BX1800 has a 3 wire connector (white from starter, red/black continuous power, black ground) located near the front of the air filter and a single white wire dangling around the starter area. The BX2200 has the single white wire hanging around the air filter not doing anything.

I had alot of respect for you but now I find out you owned a French machine. ;^)
You must be a very good mechanic with alot of time.
