Since my local dealer can't sell me AGMA 5EP Amoco Permagear EP220, and since I understand this stuff is generally not sold in consumer packaged quanities, I am wondering what those of you who own BX baggers are using the the gearboxes.

I have heard in a post on the oil forum last summer that: "ISO220EP = AGMA 5EP = SAE90 gearoil API GL5. The GL5 rating is for the extreme pressure additive (EP) in the gear oil. API-GL 5, SAE 90 would work just as good if not better then the original fluid."

If I don't hear any dissent in the next few days, I'll be getting some for use next Saturday. Grass is a growin!

Thanks Guys!

I used Mobel 1 GL5 last spring when I did mine, but what I drained out looked clean. Didn't have any problems last year. It's a pita to do tho......

I found Amaco Permagear ep 220 at an oil company in Vancouver, WA. Yes, I had to buy 5 gallons, but it is not the same as gear oil. It is sometimes referred to as liquid grease, because it is so thick and viscous. Really interesting oil. I take a bath in it sometimes. Good for getting rid of skunk smell.
Seriously, there are several equivalent brands, but 90 weight gear oil is not one of them.

Best Regards
