I was wondering if any other BX owner's are having issues with the mmm changing heights when mowing?

I took the rear wheel off of the tractor and the height adjustment dial is a simple design, but on my tractor when you select the height you want, the spring retainer does not propely seat in the detent. It also looks like the steps are not deep enough to hold the proper height, so when you hit a bump it allows the dial to move to the next lower setting. It also looks like that this would be an item that would need to be repalced often becuase with only 5 hours of mowing on the new tractor it looks worn.

Also, has Kubota addressed this issue or has someone on the forum found a fix to this problem.

Thanks in advance.

that is not right... hitting a lawn bump should not let the deck move down another notch. Sounds like the dial rod is loose. Do you always lift deck all the way before adjusting? also do you always turn it one way? If you miss a notch, keep turning it till it makes another revolution.

I know that it is not right.

How much movement do you have on the adjsuter rod when the deck is fully up and not resting on the adjuster?

You have to have the deck up to move the adjuster. It is not possible to move it with the deck resting on the adjuster.

The direction that you turn the adjuster does not matter. The design of the adjuster is just a series of steps cut in round tubing and at the top there is a ring with a set of detents, on mine the spring does not match up with the steps.

The MMM can get out of level, but that is remedied with turnbuckle like suspenders beneath the tractor. I have had a BX with MMM for 11 years and have been on TBN most of that time; I have not heard of this problem before. I am not dismissing the problem, only saying that it is out of the ordinary. For that reason, the answers regarding Kubota addressing this and members finding a fix are no and no.

1* That is how I see it also.

2*It's not a know problem so there is no issue to address .

The only reason that I posted was:

1. If anyone else was having the same problems with a new tractor.

2. If this is a know issue with the newer tractors.

Mine is a 2010 model BX2660, I know that they have made some changes to this model year to correct known issues from prior years.

Thanks for all of your quick responses.

Here are two threads discussing a similar issue on B2x20's. I recently traded a BX2360 for a B2920. I never had an issue on the 2360 but the 2920 height adjustment knob turned when the deck was lowered.

I looked underneath and noticed the spring clip was not sitting in the detent properly. If the deck was raised the dial could rotate because the spring clip was not seated restricting the dial movement. I ended up placing a washer between the spring clip and the mounting bracket that allowed the clip to engage the detent properly.

Since I never had a problem with my BX, I'm not sure if its designed similiar to a B.

Mine is somewhat difficult to turn with very defined detents. I have never had any issue with the deck lowering itself during any operation, mowing or otherwise.

e171fish, Thanks..... you the man

The links that you gave me is exactly what is going on with my mmm. I bet your new B2920 has the same parts that my BX has for the mmm adjustment, since it is the same deck and around the same model year.

I am a little pissed in the fact that Kubota sold me a tractor with a known issue, hence the nice how to repair pdf file, with the adjuster.... I also received from Kubota a fuel tank full of sediment that clogged my filter in the first few hours of operation and also fuel that was full of water!!!!

I guess I need to call corporate to get this resolved.
