I noticed today that my BX-25, which I purchased new in 2008, and now has over 300 hours, sprung a leak in one of the back hoe hoses. My neighbor, who happens to be a heavy equipment mechanic found the leak. He also pointed out that it comes from rubbing against the piston base when the boom is extended to the left. And it's not even to the extreme left. Looks like the factory should of put a different fitting on the hose to angle it away. I took a pic. To the right of the shop rag, you can see black from the hose rubbing. So fellow BX-25 owners: check your hoses!
I know what I'll be doing tomorrow: taking a road trip with the Kubota.

Thanks for the heads up... I just finished a 200hr service and inspection but I am going to go back and especially look at this detail.

Look at all hoses on all tractors (FEL & BH) as you cycle thru movement in every direction. I had one wear thru on a FEL bucket on, I believe, my previous BX25.
I saw my B2620 FEL hose also rubbing and with it I just loosened the fitting, turned the hose a bit and retightened which makes it not rub as it cycles thru the movement. Barlows gave me a length of cover to put over hoses for this purpose. There are easy low cost fixes before fluid spraying but really aggravating to discover by following the fluid trail or geyser and especially during the middle of a job. Also can be quite expensive discovering it later.

I just got back from the dealer. The hose has to be ordered. You are right about checking the hoses while cycling the bucket. I looked at two new BX-25D's on the lot. Both had the boom swung to the left. One's hoses were clear; the other had two hoses right up against the cylinder base like mine did.

My dealer sent me to a local place that makes up hoses for half to a fourth the price of Kubota oem hose. They made it while I waited.

Anyone have a cheap source for the canvas hose wraps that go over hoses/lines for protection?

Just returned from the dealer with my BX-25. The total came to a click over $200. The hose was $33. Lesson learned. As John Wayne said in The Longest Day: "Men, check your equipment!"
As a side note, it was nice seeing my tractor in a sea of orange.

I need to check that hose on my hoe also, but it's off for the winter at this point, so I won't be able to check it while swinging the boom. But, with over 400 hours on mine, if it's rubbing, it should show by now. AStanton, nice pic. Bought my BX25 at Kahn too. Quite the "candy land" they have out in the lot.
