I tried searching through the posts, but does anyone know if they have done anythign to improve the ignition switch.

I came out one day to my tractor, and the battery was dead. Of course it is the ignition switch again. It is still under warranty, but if all I am going to get is anotehr screwed up switch, I really don't care to bother.

Just curious, is it stored outdoors?

Yep it is stored outside. It is under semi-protected cover. I realize it would be better if it was stored in a garage or something, but after all it is a tractor, it should be able to handle sitting outside in in-direct weather.

I have owned several BXs. The switches on my BX22 and BX23 tractors proved to be problematic when exposed to water. Further, most early BX24s (including mine) required a replacement dash cluster because of water damage. BXs are excellent tractors, but - believe or not - it would seem that Kubota did not design them to be left out in the rain.

Squirt some WD40 into the key slot.
That'll clean up any corosion and lube it as well.

I do this yearly on all my vehicles with excellent results.

I agree, but it seems a common thread to the BX switch problems has mostly been weather (rain) exposure. If I had to replace my BX switch out of warranty I think I'd buy a different unit, maybe a marine key switch. That would also solve the problem of every BX owner and knowledgeable thief having a key to MY BX which I don't care for;)

Well, I am looking to install a cut off switch to kill all the power when I shut it off. I didn't think it was that hard to make a switch that wouldn't draw in water. I'll have to do some rewiring, but I am sure I will figure out away to put in a power kill switch somewhere. I'll just make sure that switch is water proof.
