Am looking into getting either of these machines and have received conflicting reports from different dealers on whether the rear tires should be filled or not.

So what is the group consensus here - empty or filled?

I opted for foam filled rears mainly to be flat proof. More than one weekend of seat time was ruined by a flat rear tire.

As a side benefit, I also noticed i have a lot more stability on hills and the backhoe doesn't move the tractor around like it used too.

The only negatives I've heard come into play if you use the TLB primarily for mowing.

I had my BX24 for 2 years without them loaded. I just loaded the tires with rimguard just recently and boy -let me tell you - what a difference!! I think small, tippy kubotas should be mandatory loaded unless customer request not to have it loaded. If I got a BX without BH, then it would be 50/50 with loaded or not depending on tasks at hand. If it just mowing 90% of time then no i wouldnt get it loaded unless you mow slopes alot. what ar eyou planning on doing with yours?

Loaded...makes BX more stable in all situations, especially with BH off and FEL on. Only downside for me is early spring/late fall mowing and leaf pickup...ground wetness is more of an issue.

As for dealer opinion...with no discussion, mine came loaded.

The owners manual for the BX24 says they should not be loaded when the backhoe is mounted. Mine are not loaded primarily to avoid lawn damage.

When I bought my BX24 a few months ago my dealer gave me the impression that they rarely if ever sold the BX without loading the rears. I have been very happy with mine so far, minimal lawn damage too.

My dealer really didn't give me a choice for my BX24. He said they fill all BX24's with rimguard and I didn't question it. I'm glad they are filled after all of the work I have put my tractor through.

We recommend loading the rear tires on all Compact tractors with front end loaders. Much safer tractor with loaded tires. You can also get rear wheel weights if you wanted something that can be removed.

As a sales person looking for the best value for the customer on ballast I recommend the cast weights. You only buy them once! If there is a need for more for the type work you are doing, then go to the liquid weight. For many tire designs the liquid hinders traction so it's not the best system for adding the ballast but it is the least expensive initially.

To have a little pucker factor once in a while will make for a better operator, just like testing your car out in the snow if you have it by putting it into a skid on ice to test the tires.

To heavy, and you pay every day to move it!

It only takes one flat tire and you have to buy the liquid again!!!!
