I am interested in that info also. Hopefully it's a simple and relatively inexpensive upgrade.

:cool:Your dealer can't get the 40 Amp upgrade Alt?!? Maybe they should called a proctologist to see of they can find their heads! :DTry Messicks. They know what their doing. Or here: The part for my BX was 15531-64017 and is available for $202 at Tractor Smart

The least expensive would be to get a rebuilt Hitachi 14231 Alternator from NAPA, Advance Auto, Auto Zone or O'rilies. See if it will mount and fit. It should. If it does not they should have no problem with you returning it.
That little alternator is used in a lot of applications. I believe it was originally used in the 80's Nissan pickups. Has been used in a lot of Japan motors since. And many conversions.
It is an internally regulated 40 amp very affordable, very reliable, should be LESS than $50.00.
You can wire it as a single wire alternator if you want. So hook up is very simple. KennyV.

Thanks for the info. That will go into the manual for down the road a bit.

After I submitted the above line I looked up the alternator on the site and that number came up, Then I looked up dynamo and nothing came up. I'm wondering if that part isn't the original and not an upgrade?

The Dynamo will be a standard feature and , I would guess, not wildly sought after whereupon it would be only logical not to stock as every one would have one or better. I would guess you could get one if need be. Not a lot of complexities to a dynamo. My guess is they rarely fail.

Iended up at my dealer ,after going to parts stores, alternator shops, and calling dealers state wide. The lady at the counter showed me the two optoins, both that they had in stock. One was my current dynamo-,the other actually looked alot different ,actually looked like a car alternator.Isaid that cant be it,its not the same. Then the parts manager and service manager got togeather and went into the salesmans office and found an alternator kit that was not available in the parts computer,:confused:He said i think we have one:)He got CINDY[ the owner]and they went up in the attic overhead of the garage and found it.She had ordered it for a customer a few years back and he never took it.Now get this;it was the same alternator at the counter that lists alone for 315.Igot the whole kit bolts, bracketts wiring harness, the works for200 even[i dont know what the kit usually cost at todays pricing]:)Heres a pic of the kit and im gonna show pics of the install part number bx7310a fits all bx tractors im told.A BIG THUMBS UP TO OSGOODS for going the extra mile, and having lots of parts available

Escavader,
Thank you for the information. Looking forward to the pics.
I've had trouble at my local Kubota parts counter getting the correct number or part before. I don't think their system is very good. One time the parts guy happened to remember what the correct block heater was. Their computer didn't show it correctly. If I had ordered the part the computer said, it would have been wrong.

Next you have to choose from the kit, which new tightening bracket you need.Itook the one from the bx22-23.Remove the old[2 bolts]install the new.GET the bushing and new bolt from the kit for the bottom.Ibelieve i used an old one for the top rough in the alternator. Before you tighten ,make sure its on all the pulleys. If its off on the bottom one ,its easier to crawl under and slip it back on,tighten it up according to your owners manual.
