I am debating on getting a set of chains for My BX.

I already have both sets(turf & bar) and wondered if anyone has had any kind of clearance issues on the rears of the BX 2200 or BX2230? I think the rears are the same size as ATV tires, at least that is what it seemed to me after looking on some sites at the chains they offered.

I would appreciate any input .

There are no clearance issues for chains on the rear, but they are larger than most standard ATV tires.
I run a set of 2-link chains during the winter and mud season. They go on easily in 10 minutes.

My neighbor made a set for me from old, broken tire chains he had picked up at the dump and various other places. He measured the rear tires and disappeared into his shop, returning a few hours later with a set that fit first-time. Cool. That was with my BX2200. The chains made a world of difference, I thought...and I had bar tires on. Later I traded in my BX2200 on a BX23 and a couple weeks ago I had my first "BX23 snow throwing experience". The weight of the hoe REALLY made a difference in traction and I have not yet put the chains on. Eventually I probably will...but so far so good without them. The chains really shine in slush/ice. For fluffy snow, I don't if they would have made as much of a difference.

I have the 2 link spaced V-bar chains from tirechains.com, and have no clearance issues with my turf tires.

Pewag makes (great) tire chains for tractors. All square link that provides great traction/wear, or twisted link chinese chain that is decent/cheap. Contact a tractor dealer that sell tractors around where there's alot of snow. Or a pewag dealer (no promises that they'll work with you for a special order like that - but I always work with anyone on tire chains, and we can get nearly any size. Pewag will make whatever they dont have in stock if they've ever made one for that size before). Expect to pay ~100-150/pair for twisted link, or $160-250/pair for square.

Pewag claims 32% better traction, and 4x the wear from their square link as compaired to the twisted link.

PM me if you want a part # for Pewag chains in your size.

I have turfs and chains on the back of my 2230. I absolutely need them since I have a steep rocky path into the woods where I store firewood and attachments.

I think the turfs with 4x4 work great for everything I want to do, and the chains are available for snow/ice or any heavy dirt work.

I pulled a rental log splitted into and out of the woods this weekend and would not have made it in 4low alone.

I am very happy with my chains... got them from Tireschains.com
