Hi: Am considering the BX-2200 to remove snow, lots of it and often wet. Been using a JD 317 with single stage snowthrower and it works pretty good. Afraid the two stage will clog. Have about 1 mile of level gravel road to clear.

I'm willing to lay serious money that the BX with the Kubota front blower would do the job just fine. I talked to one guy that has the BX1800 with this setup and he said he couldn't believe how far it thru the wet, heavy stuff. Given the mile long drive/road, I'd sure as heck want a front-mounted blower. The blade might do the job, but if it's thick, your gonna run out of drive without the loader attached, and that'll add lots of time to the job. Where you at? It might help the others if you register and give some demographics...

Thanks for the response. I'm in the Great Pacific NorthWet (NorthWest), Idaho about 60 miles from Canadian Border (B.C.) Also am a small female and large tractors scare me.

Not sure exactly what "small female" means or why small females should fear tractors but leaving that mystery lay--I recommend at least a BX. Not that I have much snow remeval experience but if you have been succesful with a tiny, underpowered, 2WD, tractor styled lawnmower like the JD you have been using then the unintimidating and "friendly" BX will so far out perform that lawnmower you had as to consider it a quantum leap in performance. One mile of snow! --you may need to at least consider the Kubota 7500 though I am positive the BX would meet your needs and it will even wag it's tail for you. Good luck. I have a B7500 with a front snowblower - works great. I
would think that the two stage would be an improvement
over the single stage.

The only problem I had in wet heavey snow was that the
chute would clog up. This was due to a metal guard that is
in the chute (to prevent items from being shot out, I assume).
I fixed it by simply bending the guard back and out of the way
and it never clogged up since then. I'll try to actually unscrew
the guard sometime this summer; haven't touched the blower
since I took it off after the winter.

so "small female" means 100 pounds, tried to get a large tractor out of the ditch one time by myself --- Ha Ha I can do alot of damage with a small machine.

Next, the dealers are telling me that I will get 6000 to 10000 hours on the BX-2200 engine. Do you know if this is correct?

6000 - 10000 my A!!. A typical diesel engine will be in need of rebuilding/injectors/etc. around 3000 hours. However, if you are only using the BX for your property I doubt you will hit those kind of hours anytime soon. I have used my BX for a 24" wet snowfall on a steep diveway & loved it! The 4wd is definitely a plus over my old JD 445. I think you will find the BX capable of everything you ask.

I use my BX tractor a bunch and even at that find it difficult to run up more than 100 hours per year, actually I am in my second season and just went past 200. Lets see--10,000 hours divided by 100 is 100 years and even at 200 hours per year that would be 50 years. Nope, I would expect reaonably that a well cared for BX should be capable of 3,000 to maybe 5,000 hours but I could be wrong but even at 100 hours per year into 2000 hours life that is 20 years. To me, 20 years is a long time and I think someone is joshing you or they are perhaps full of something. Get the BX, loader, front snow blower and maybe ballast or weights for your rear wheels and the 60 inch deck for mowing. My wife, also a small woman, can in fact remove and install my (our) BX loader. J
