Bx 2200
Helllo all, been a while since I've posted here, but I've got a problem. While running my bx will just shut down and die. It act's like you shut the key off...even at full throttle. I suspect maybe a bad ground somewhere or a fuel cut-out solenoid. I can stop, disengage all pto, shift to neutral, ect and she'll start right back up...but it's becoming more frequent and I need to track this down. On another note ...I've heard about these gator blade's...anyone know if there's a set to fit the 60" self-balancing deck and how much they are. My brother and I are both interested in trying them. Thanks in advance for any and all help! Ken.

It does sound electrically related. A fuel pump or filter problem would create a lot of knocking. These clean instant shutoffs and startups have to be electrical in nature. And you are right, BX2200 doesn't have that seat cutoff (which is fine with me).

It would sound like you know what the problem is! Now it's time to start that mind numbing check of all the lines and connections!:D :D :D

Mine did this also. It was the fuel selonoid.

Thanks for the replys. So...if it is the fuel solenoid...where is it on the engine and how much of a PITA is it to change. It can't be much worse than doing the power steering lines! I had all four go bad...one at a time over the cousre of about 6 weeks. Next time when one gose they're all getting replaced like it or not....I got real good at ripping off the floor pan!

Its easy! I replaced mine last week. It's located on the left side of the engine under the air filter. Follow the fuel line to get close. Two screws and an electrical plug to remove plus $126 for replacement. My tractor was dying and I could not figure it out until the solonoid shorted out and started smoking. Easy to locate the problem at that point. Also, if your unsure about the solonoid being the problem, my tractor started and ran just fine with the old solonoid removed but the problem changed to not being able to turn the tractor off. I just used the old solonoid to depress the button and stop the engine when I was ready.

Regarding the Gator blades.
I've got a set for my 60" deck.
They work wonders.
The available blades for our deck have a center hole that is too big.
You correct that problem with a cat0 to cat1 bushing cut into 1/4" slices.
Tap the slice into the blade hole and it slides right onto the spindle.

Have you been using Bio Diesel greater than B-30? Using Service Power or other additive for lubication with the 15ppm ULSD? Too much of a good thing is a bad thing for your fuel filters. EPA is realizing the sulfur they took out of #2 Diesel is letting the micro-biological organism flourish and the chemicals to kill these fungus is more of a hazard for the environment than the sulfur was. This is your government at work and I heard this straight from a Region 4 EPA Biologist. Reducing your engine load and short time restarts tells me your engine might be starving for fuel in addition to any electrical problem(s).

Before spending $126 spend $10 and replace both fuel filters. One is in the engine compartment and one is under the tractor. Good routine maintenance to replace them even if it doesn't solve the problem.

DC....do you have a P/N for your blades..I'd like to give 'em a try.

OB1kubota... No bio fuel...just off-road diesel. I DO add some service power and some marvel to every 6 gal jug I get. But I am conservative in how much I add..so as not to over do it. The pump/injectors are definitly quieter with it than without.

TobyH...Yep..I agree, it's time for her spring tune-up anyway. I've only got abot 580hrs on but I change my oil every year inc fuel filters, and I've changed my hydro (inc front diff) twice already and I'm going to do it again. I belive a clean tranny is a happy one...I've seen what neglected fluid will do to an automatic, I'd rather keep on top of it than have to change clutch paks too soon for no good reason. ps howdy neighbor!!!

Howdy back, Kenneyz. How'd you make out with your BX? Just curious if you solved the problem. Any warmer down there in the south land?

Jump the solinoid to the battery first to make sure it's good of bad. Boy those are expensive.
