Going on 40 years of marriage, my wife has given up trying to understand the need for toy's_____ oop's I mean necessary equipment. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
I have to many interests. Tractor-ing, Baoting, Fishing and other forms of entertainment.
They all require a large amount of storage space. Nothing is stored outside./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I always wanted to ask somebody from Novi how Novi and Wixom got their names?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

/ BX 2000 Shed Update #23
There are two rumors floating around about NOVI. One is that it was simply named after train station number 6.....No. VI. The other less believable rumor is that when the person who named the towns wife suggested a name he said No and her name was Viloet....No Vi. I do have to admit that I never heard anything about how Wixom got its name though. But I do know that my '64 T-bird convertable was built there in a plant built on land that Wixom annexed from Novi taking all of the Ford Motor Co. tax revinue for itself. Man I love spewing useless information!!!

Did you happen to see the TV ad for the new T-Bird yet? Man is it ever funny!

No new T-bird for me, though I'm pretty sure I saw one traveling South on I-77 south of Charlotte, NC. I wasn't aware they were available yet. Of course when I lived in Michigan I remember seeing five Vipers heading for Ann Arbor long before they were available to the public. Must have been the local car magazines or Chrysler test people. No, I'll stick with my '64 since the best part about it is that it's a cool convertible that seats 4 in reasonable comfort. I think if I got rid of my old Vette and T-bird the only new thing I would want is a Viper. Kinda raw like the old Vettes and plenty loud!!! Of course the $35.00 a year property tax is much more desirable than a thousand or so to the govt. for a Viper.

Woodstock (and others)

In Australia, I have never seen a shed like this. EG, the rounded roof.

Is that a local custom thing or is it for snow or something??

Attached is my shed, just like 99.9% of all the rest here in Australia.

Different hey?

Cheers

I think calling that a shed is a bit of an understatement!!!! By the way, do you use that snorkel on the truck often???

Good Day Mate!
Neil, We have your type of shed here too. I picked this one because it is stronger and quicker to assemble but yet cheaper. Unlike yours there is no frame. The panels themselves are self supporting and the 20 gauge metal is stamped with small ribs and large valleys to provide the strenght.
DSCN1948.JPG

Each panel is 18 inches wide to allow one person bolting. Although my 5'3" brother inlaw had to stretch his arms to reach.
This building cost 1/3 of your style, but as you noticed it is not as conventional looking as yours. Also snow loads here require a very strong roof.
Before I painted it black, it stood out like a pimple of Bo Derek's nose.
When my brother, saw pics of it, he said the US might bomb it thinking it was a Taliban scud missle site.
But since it is now black you can't see it in our forest once you get 30 feet away. I like that esthetically and for security reasons.

Gday Woodstock !!

Yes I liked the idea of the shed. No framing. Just thought it was a bit funny looking. Are you sure the Thunderbirds won't be looking for one of their pods !!!

Jeff

My shed is BIG because 1/3 of it is my office. But it did cost around $21000 Aust = $10500 US - So not cheap. Nice roomy inside for all my junk. Then the office fitout costs were on top of that - Scary. But at least I work at home and have no rental overheads etc.

Yes I use the snorkel. Some guys got a kick out of this photo.
Cheers

Great pictures, I sent them to all my friends for their amusement. By the way, what type of pickup is that? Is it a diesel?

Jeff

/ BX 2000 Shed Update #35
Jef

Yes it is a Toyota Hilux 2.8L diesel with an aftermarket turbo.

I think you have them but they are called a Tacoma. Am I right there ?

Mate, I have a heap more photos of me and the mates doing silly things in our 4x4's. If you want, I can post some in the photos post??

We call this a "tray-back ute" not a pickup. I guess a pickup is more like what we call a "styleside ute" where the sheetmetal of the cab goes thru to the back, instead of having a seperate tray on the back.

I kinda like the term "pickup" though, and like a lot more of American lingo, it is creeping in over here.

Cheers

Amazing the influence you guys have over our culture here.

Hi Neil,

I'd love to see more pixs...!

They don't offer the diesel any longer in the states for the Toyota... I had a Isuzu P'up with diesel...one of the best trouble free vehicles I've ever owned... mother nature however did the frame and body in {33-36mpg, still ran beautiful when retired}

We also like your lingo...

My first six new cars were Toyota's, you just can't beat the quality! (And boy did I suffer with that opinion in the early 80's living in Detroit)/w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif! The one I wish I had back is my 1985 land cruiser before they turned into the yuppie jokes they are today. I also have a diesel, my first, and will post a picture later today. I think it's the largest sold here...22 feet long. Unfoutunately 2wd as 4X4 isn't much needed south of the mason dixon line.

Jeff

Interesting note from the South...Did anybody else know that all of the Civil War ("War of Yankee agression" or "There ain't nothin' Civil about it") statues are positioned with their backs facing North? If you're ever lost in the South, find the center of town and see which way the statue faces/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

Amazing the influence you guys have over our culture here

Neil, that cuts both ways. Although I'm sure the American influence is pervasive, it's also amazing how much of your stuff filters through here. Of course the Fosters doesn't hurt either! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Aussie influience over there hey?

Wow !

I don't even drink Fosters !!!

I think it all started when you guys doubled our population during WWII and things just rolled on from their.

Lucky you did "invade" us during WWII or else I might be working for Mr. Kubota.

Look for my photos in "Photos" too guys !!
