Buzzing sound coming from under the dash and steering column area? Kioti CK20 HST

I've got a 2003 Kioti CK20 HST tractor, went to get in the truck the other morning, could hear a fairly loud noticeable, continuous buzzing sound coming from the tractor parked about 25 feet away, upon inspection could tell it was coming from under the dash in the steering column area, so I inserted the key to see if it would start and run, it was little slow to start since it had been sitting unused for a week or so but it eventually started and idled with no problem, so I then turned the ignition off and pulled the key and the buzzing sound persisted. I cycled the key a few times through the positions to see if that would do anything but nothing, it was cold and rainy and I had to be somewhere so I ended up just pulling the main fuse so it wouldn't run my battery down and the buzzing stopped. So I eventually get it into the shop a few days later where I can work on it but of course now the buzzing won't come back on in a control environment where I have tools and can see what's going on.

So I'm concerned if I don't figure out what it was it will just eventually happen again and drain my battery down.

Has anyone encountered something like this?

There was a mouse nest behind the cover, as I suspected, but couldn't find any evidence of chewed wiring.

I suspect the Glow Plug Timer Control may be the cause, it normally makes a short buzz when the glow plug it ready but doesn't seem to be making that sound now, it looks like it was replaced once already, the tractor is an 03 model and the date on the relay says March 08

Based on the acorns and a few other items in place, in addition to mice, you could have squirrels or chipmunks building that nest. In a close review of your picture, from what I can see there does not appear to be a chewed wire within the photo, but it deserves a much closer inspection.
It is possible that the nest was causing a moisture issue causing a power bleed to a circuit.
Best of luck as electrical issues that are not happening are near impossible to locate.

Clean the area and spritz the area with Lysol. The odor will help keep critters away and masks critter smell.

Hello CoyPatton, thanks for the reply, I do have problems with squirrels but I think this nest was either field mice or possibly chipmunks base on the composition, they also like to chew the insulation off the underside of my truck hood. It's possible that the nest itself could have ben the culprit seeing that the relay wires and connectors were completely entangled with it. If not that then I suspect that the glow plug control relay may being going bad (see picture), the buzzing sound was like a relay making and breaking contact instead of the solid magnetic connection is should make, based on what I've read this could be a sign that the relay is going bad. And of course now that I've got in the shop where I can work on it it won't making the buzzing sound again, so I'm thinking about replacing the relay just as a precaution, its a $60-70 part which I'd rather not spend but will. for peace of mind

Thanks for the replay, I'll have to try the Lysol, I've heard moth balls also help. I live in a wooded area so I have to deal with rodents of all kind

That is probably the original part. Date format for many countries including Korea is Year, Month, Day. If that's the case for this, it would be July 8, 2003.

Oh okay, thanks for that information I did not realize that, then it would be the original part. I see that Ford850 told me the same thing but I overlooked it, thanks guys
