Hi everyone, I am about to purchase a 20' H&H Speedloader EX for my business Titanic Trailer Services. For those of you who own tilt bed trailers, do you find it difficult or slippery when driving a tractor or vehicle up on the deck during the winter?

Also, H&H Speedloader owners, how do you like your trailer?

Thanks,

Ken

If too slippery, you can glue aluminium diamond plates on the wood with bonding sealant. Its pricey but your wooden floor will never rot (if all seams are properly sealed on the top) and aluminium wont puncture as easily as wood.

For the cheap way, span a fishnet over it, as snowchains-the-other-way-around

Oh and i forgot: you can paint epoxy floorpaint on it and spread fine gravel or coarse sand on it.

I have an H & H tilt wood deck equipment trailer. I would do the same as my enclosed trailer, paint it with pickup truck bedliner material. Seems to hold up good.

I have a 20' H&H speedloader. It was the manual tilt MX model which I converted to electric hyd. EX and added a winch. Bought it new in 2006 and use it quite often. In winter I don't have too much problem loading the tractor even with snow on the deck. I put the tractor in 4WD low range and it walks right up. A few times I had ice on the deck and the tractor tires would spin. What I do is drive up in mid range, lower the bucket and back drag the snow / ice off the trailer.
I'd say the best solution would be to keep a couple 5 gallon pails of salt or sand in the pickup bed and use some of that on the trailer deck. I get 5 gallon pails of road sand / salt mix from the DPW. They tell me to go ahead, they won't miss a pail or two from their pile. Plus it's extra weight in the truck for traction.

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep it in mind. Do you secure the fish net down some how or just have it loosely on the deck?

Thanks for the input. Just wondering, have you had any problems with the trailer so far?

One thing I consider as a problem would be the trailer paint. I've had to repaint twice in 7 years.
Brakes lasted a reasonable time, just did a complete replacement (including the backing plate) on all four of them last year.
I also upgraded the wheels and tires from bias ply to radials with greater load capacity.
No other complaints

I have had my trailer since 2000. Have had 100,000 on it. The issue with loading was my 56 F-100 when it was wet. Slid it side ways and scratched the brand new paint on the fender. No problem with my tractor ever. Keep the hinges greased. I broke the tongue off because one side froze up and I jacked it up and it broke. Not the trailers fault, i should have greased it.

I have owned a 20' aluminum speedloader since 2008, I did end up with the 9,990 pound package which I highly recommend as a minimum.
Mine has the treated wood deck, and I have not had problems with traction; sometimes you need a little slip if you are dragging dead vehicles up with a winch.
I replaced the LED marker lights last year and added new Maxxis M8008 tires with an E load rating for a little extra piece of mind when fully loaded.
All in all, I am very pleased with mine... so pleased that I just took delivery of a new 24' aluminum speedloader.
I splurged a little and added wireless tilt control and torsion axles.
Not cheap, but great resale value on the aluminum versions.
