Hey, Kellys69!
MyL2800DT is used primarily for dirt work, and it's a workhorse once you learn to utilize its strengths. If I was starting over, I'd probably get an L39, but that's not one you mentioned so I'll say this: If you need weight, go 3130 hydro. If not, save some $ and go 3400 hydro. If price is the overriding issue, go L2800 gear. Just research and understand the differences in each so you don't get less than you need, or pay for more than you need. Can you run your brush hog on your property without much backing up and turning around? If so, a 5' unit on the L2800 will work fine. If not, you want an independent PTO, and one of the others would be handier.
My machine may be old fashioned in its features, but it sure can do work! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The L2800 gear version has a transmission driven PTO, that transmission is an old design and there are better options in the tractor market than the L2800 for bush hogging due to the transmission. For bush hogging you can use this type of transmission, but it is probably the least desiarable of all transmissions for hogging or finish mowing. Either of the other two models would be better choices for this task.

I was looking at pretty much the same brands you are looking at but pretty much settled on the L3430 / 3130. I think that with the 3 pt issues on the L2800/3400 and the more heavy duty features on the L3430/3130, the latter makes more sense for me at least. I think that you will probably appreciate the larger size and more features of the L3430/3130 considering the size of property you will be maintaining. Make sure know as much as you can about what ever model you buy and Good luck in what ever decision you make.

Thanks

Don't make the same mistake I did 3 years ago. I didn't want to spend alot and figured a B7500 would be fine. After a year I wished for something bigger, heavier, more features ect..

Started looking in Feb of this year and kept moving up models everytime I test drove / researched one.

Once I tested the 3130 I was sold - BUT - moved up to the 3430 just for the extra horses. The difference was $900 but spread that out over a 4 year loan and it's only $18.00 more a month.

People say it's like buying a car - it isn't. Compare the cars resale value in 5 years to the tractor. I just sold my 7500 for very close to what I payed.

I can't imagine buying a tractor without a loader!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Unless a tractor purchase was just one of many tractors and the only plan was to use it for one specific purpose for which a loader was not needed . . . GET A LOADER!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You will use if for everything you can possibly imagine, and then find out how great it works for everything else you never thought of!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Kellys69, There are so many times I use the loader for jobs that I never would have thought of before I purchased the tractor. So with complete confidence I can positively say GET THE LOADER!

Kelly, if the thought of endless possibilities will make you crazy, then you better steer clear of the loader. Otherwise, GET THE LOADER! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Probably the handiest tractor implement there is.
