Tractor
Kubota B6100E Kubota L 2501 Kubota T1460
Looks like Im going with the Kubota package seen here L251 LOADER BACKHOE PACKAGE | Packages | Beshears Kubota

Mine is gonna have the manual thumb since I was told they dont offer hydraulic.

Im not getting it from them, Im dealing with my local dealer instead even though it is about 1700 dollars more.

Ive been told many things from many different Florida dealers about these tractor packages avail up north and Ive decided I dont want to deal with a possible hassle

Ive never bought a new tractor.....sounds silly maybe but is it safe to assume Im buying the very one I test drove last weekend on the dealers lot?

Ok to sound even sillier.....its 2 hrs away ( but its close to my property I am working ) and I honestly didnt look at it super closely......Im stupid **** about my things, I take care of my things......Im hoping the tractor I looked at is in pristine condition....for the money Im paying it very well should be but what if its not?

I havent signed a contract yet....do I need to drive the 2 hrs to inspect this unit more closely before I sign the contract?

What can you guys suggest I be on the lookout for with this deal? Id like to not make any mistakes.

This is the second most expensive purchase Ive made.

This thing should have ZERO Hrs on it right?

If there no title than what paperwork shows a model year?

How different mechanically is this newer tractor over my old early 80s Kubota? Ive been told this model is all computered up like the larger tractors. Is this true?

I do my own work so thats why I ask

I personally would look at the tractor that I am purchasing, and make certain the dealer knows what my expectations are. That said, L2501's don't sit on dealer lots for years on end, so they are all likely to be in the same condition. Hours may vary, but zero is not going to happen. I guess I would consider anything under 5 hours or so to be acceptable.
New tractors are not generally sold according to model year. They will likely go by the sale date and call it a 2019.

If the tractor, or any shipment, upon delivery, does not meet your expectations you can refuse to take delivery in some states. Not sure if Florida is one of them.

There's no way to tell if the exact tractor you test drove is the one the dealer is selling you unless you specifically requested it and noted the serial number. Why would it matter? Dealer may have a "tester" that they let people rack up hours on and do demos with, then sells each person a freshly uncrated unit.

There's a reasonable amount of hours a new tractor will have. Most are under 5, and some creep up to 10 if it's one that has a lot of people test-driving it. New tractors count hours when the key is on, so if the dealer has it on installing/testing things like the FEL then it's going to end up with some time on it even if it goes straight from the crate to you.

AFAIK the only way to track "model year" on a tractor is with serial number ranges.

The L2501 is fairly simple electronically. It doesn't have the regen system of the larger displacement Ls like my L3301. Wiring harness is pretty much just lights, gauges, safeties, and idiot lights. There is a brain box controlling the idiot lights, but that saves you from having to watch 6+ gauges constantly like in the old days.

It is a direct injection engine, which means super high pressure diesel and no messing with the fuel system unless you know what you're doing. You can die or get seriously injured from getting diesel injected into your bloodstream trying to treat a DI engine like an old pumper.

My current tractor and attachments were purchased completely through email and phone.

The first time I saw any of it was when the delivery truck brought it to my house.

Assistant manager came with it. I gave it a once over, signed the papers, and gave him my down payment all right in my driveway.

Of course I knew the dealer was good from friends and I knew what I wanted.

And no, a new tractor will not be zero hours. The dealer has to test it, the tractor will run to bleed the loader hydraulics, they have to load and unload to deliver, ect.

Mine had 3 hours on it.

I bought my tractor site unseen from an out of state dealer, I inspected it and wouldn't sign papers before I was happy with the tractor. I knew the model was exactly what I wanted from looking at local dealers, the out of state dealer I purchased it from had an ad on CL for leftovers and I saved thousands compared to local dealers and delivery was free. Make sure everything is what you expect before you sign anything.

Thanks to everyone, they want me to sign a sales contract, they say once this is done they will order or start to install the implements.....

Some of you guys say dont sign anything until Ive looked everything over which is where Im most comfortable, does this include the sales contract?

I can see their reluctance to start the prep work without a commitment from you, so it looks like you have a road trip in front of you so you will feel comfortable.

Yes, if they have to order something, modify something or start adding implements, they will want you to sign on the dotted line. Very understandable.

It'll probably have at least an hour or two on it. Especially if it's the one you test drove. They get tested at the factory and/or dealer. My dealer puts new units on a PTO dyno to check them out.
