Because of my schedule the soonest time I can drive the 2 hrs to my Kubota dealer is next Sat afternoon to sign the purchase agreement for my L2501DT/LA525FL/BH77 mech thumb package.

Im new to tractors and tractor related, I would think it would be perfectly OK to expect my salesperson to give me a thorough demonstration of the tractor and attachments usage including disconnecting implements and basic maintenance of the machine.

Am I expecting too much from a salesperson? How would I get this experience?

Im more interested in hands on being shown versus a You tube video.

What is gonna be the deal with maintenance with buying a new tractor, does the dealer take care of everything up to a certain hour on the clock or am I holding the bag from the day I drive away with it?

Id like to know where all the lube spots are and make sure in general that I am properly caring for my large investment.

I cant pick it up until the first weekend of next month cause of work schedule so its nice I have time to ask these questions

sometimes sales will know more than you do about equip. sometimes they don't
you can learn alot from operators manual. Ask us
depends on your maintence contract

If there is any way that you can get the owner's manual early, read it front to back at least twice. That alone will answer at least half of your questions regarding your machine. ;)

I have no idea why the manuals are only available for Kubota Canada, but there you go.

Also loader manual:

I struck out on the BH77 manual. I'm sure it's online somewhere, but my google-fu failed me.

Thanks for the links/advice

It sounds safe to assume than that I shouldnt assume that anyone will take the time to show me how to properly use the equipment?

Makes no sense to me that I shouldnt expect that

Telephone your salesman and ask if he/she will demonstrate the unit for you. If you are nice about the request and he/she really wants the sale they will oblige. Tractor dealerships are generally NOT like car dealerships. In my experience the sales people are a lot more laid back, genuinely friendly and willing to accommodate their customers.

My Kubota dealer spent as much time as was necessary going over everything on the tractor. I also read the owners manual twice before it was delivered. He even showed me how to take the BH off and on and its limits and what to watch out for. The owners manual will show all the places to grease every 5 hours. The detailed maintenance schedule and where everything is located, filters and drain plugs are in the operators manual but have the dealer point them out. Sometimes there are more than one and up to three places to drain the hydro fluid. Know how to clean your radiator screen and change the inner and outer air filter. Know the procedure to starting the tractor if you let it run completely out of diesel. Know where the fuel filter is.

If you can't get somebody to answer your questions until you feel comfortable operating your 18 thousand dollar purchase then I would tear up the paperwork and go someplace else. If they won't support you before the sale, how are they going to treat you once they get your money?
