- International 1066 Full sized JCB Loader/Backhoe and a John Deere 430 to mow with
I think this is perhaps the first time I've ever posted in the JD forum since I've been here!!!
Anyway.... I'm looking for a flex-wing mower and tractor to pull it.
Locally, stumbled onto a hydraulically powered mower. It is hydraulic, not PTO (shaft) powered. Here's the listing
batwing bushog - farm & garden - by owner - sale
Ok... it has my intrigue....
Then same person says he's got a 4040-S with cab but AC isn't working....and... I think he said the front wheels have some kind of hydraulic assist motors on them (??) and that it didn't work....but he'd taken it to shop to have fixed and it WAS fixed....but now, is back to not working. He says he's thinking something is loose but as of now, doesn't know.
Supposedly engine been rebuilt, new clutch and I have a choice of with or without loader.
Mind you....what I'm looking for is a large lawn mower. I have an industrial backhoe/loader for those tasks if need be so having a loader on the tractor might be fantastic....it's not like we don't already have one.
I have no idea on hours and have not yet even seen the machine to get an idea if it's beat to snot or not. He said it looks good. He also seems like a pretty straight up guy but then, so did Bernie Madoff.....
He said since he only had the Bushhog listed for sale, he hadn't yet thought of what to ask for the JD..... but because of our conversation and he knows he'll be selling it "soon", he went ahead & made mention of it to me.
Also.... he lives about six/eight miles away. Heck, if I bought it, I could drive the darn thing home!!!
What I'm wondering is how nice is that style of tractor and what might be a reasonable price to pay and what is a "heck no" walk away price?
I know there might be more to know....but I simply don't know it yet. If I go look on Saturday, I'd like to at least have a couple opinions on what this size machine might be worth.
Thanks for any thoughts!!!
