Probably a dumb question.

I have a Kioti DK551 that has Cat 2 arms on the rear. My brush cutter is Cat 1. I am using reducer bushings on it. The brush cutter attachment points are set up in double shear. The bushing always seems to wander out from under the link arm and doesn't do its job. There isn't enough room to put a second bushing in there..... What is my solution?

essentially the bushing wanders out from below the ball in the lower link and sits off to the side, not doing any good. Can i just switch the ball to a Cat 1 ball? Do they make spacers? Longer bushings?

All relatively simple things to do. ;)

Do your draft link balls turn 90* and are then cat 1 balls?

You could cut a second shim-bushing down for width to be able to have the full width covered.

You could get a 12" piece of stock the correct size and cut it to fit.

You could stack a lot of washers in there to keep the bushing inside the lift arm ball.

You could drill out the brush cutter mounts so that they fit the 1 1/8" cat 2 pins and get 2 new cat 2 pins.

Those are the solutions that I would consider. ;)

Washers. Lots and lots of washers.

As was mentioned, stack washers or cut down a bushing. My preference would be to stack washers or make a bigger diameter bushing so the side to side movement is minimized.

I had s similar problem with my snowblower. Blower was setup diameter wise for Cat1 and Cat2 but the blower Cat2 was too wide for the 3 point arms so I made new pins that were Cat2 all the way. Then made a bushing to control side to side movement.

I had hoped to post pictures but i dont see how on my phone.

Although perhaps a little more work, oversize the holes to accept a CAT2 pin. Might need to add some extra material to make up for any strength loss due to removed material (though I can't see that it could be all that substantial).

I'd been battling with bushing issues on my NX5510 and bush hog, mostly an issue with losing the bushings (as I frequently swap implements)! And recently I discovered, after breaking one of it's CAT1 pins, that my cutter could take CAT2 pins: previous owner's tractor was CAT1; broken pin showed old signs of stress, about 1/3 of break showed signs of discoloration/rust. My bush hog isn't quick hitch compatible.

Lift pins are available with Cat II pin diameter and Cat 1 thread diameter. 1-1/8” and 7/8” respectively.

My cutter is set up in double sheer. The pin goes through the cutter then the link then back through the cutter. I think making a longer bushing or cutting an additional is my solution. Ill also see if they balls are replaceable. Thx

I am relatively certain that the balls are not replaceable without cutting those off and welding cat 1 ends on. Are you sure that they do not turn 90* and then have a 7/8" pin hole. Many cat 1-2 tractors are this way.
