Bush Hogging Machine (Tractor)

Just curious. I love bush hogging on my 'Bota B7500 and the 4' Fred Crain rotary cutter, but I wished I had a bigger rig to be used primarly as a tractor to bush hog.

So, what's a great setup with a 5' to 6' cutter size? I'd prefer a 4X4 since I has some pretty steap places...a cab would be nice (see the hornet posts).

I'm open minded as far as color goes, but Orange has been EXCELLENT machine so far.

All the major brands are good, so I am not going to recommend a color. However, consider HP. I run a light duty 6' rotary cutter on 27 PTO HP. As long as I mow fairly regularly I can run as fast as I want. But if I get into deep thick really green grass, I have to slow down quite a bit. Would be nice to have a few more HP. 27 is about minimum for a light duty 6 footer.

Hmmm. I just bought a New holland TN75 and got a hand me down 5' King Cutter. This tractor is overkill for the mower, but it will go through anything (at least...I think it will until I blow up the gear box). I've mowed about 15 acres of heavy red brush and stuff up to 2' with no issues. The TN does have a nice cab version as well ( I don't have the cab model). However, I can't say that one color is going to be better than the other. My Dad had orange for 30 years - took a beating and kept on ticking. I was going to go orange but found the ergonomics of the blue more to my taste. I'd recommend that you visit as many different dealers as possible. I sat on Orange, Green, Red and Blue before making my decision.

One other note: converted my Dad to blue with 110 Hp TB 110. That will really mow!!!! 10' mower as fast as you want.
