Tiller Bush Hog vs KK tiller

I am getting ready to buy a kubota 3010 HST and am trying to figure out which tiller to buy. The dealer has a 62" bush hog brand with shear pin for 1895. I can buy a 60" KK at TSC for 995. Also is anyone using a 60" KK with a 3010 Kubota and if so does it have enough power to handle it well.

Goody, I have a KK 60" tiller & a JD 4300 (32h.p. It works great! Tractor handles it with no problem. Jim in Idaho

I have the KK 60" tiller for my TC29. Pulls it with no trouble. The only thing I wish the KK tiller had was the ability to offset to one side.

That Bush Hog tiller is a fine piece of equipment. I had an RTS40 that I bought for my B7100 and my cousin now has the 62" model he uses on a TC29D. So you certainly can't go wrong with it; however, for the price difference, if I were buying now, I'd have to give that KingKutter a try.

Thanks for the help. Does the 5' KK cover your tires tracks OK ? I was just wondering why you would need the offset . I have never used a tiller so I probably don't quite understand how the offset works.

Goody,

I have a L3410 and the outside measurement of the rear R4 tires is 66". If you are getting your tractor set up like mine, the 60" tiller will not cover all the tire area. However, I believe that KK makes a 72" tiller for just a couple hundred more. I'm sure the L3010 would be fine with that tiller.

In addition, you may want to check out First Choice tillers. They are just a little more than the KK tiller but have offset capability (I think). Do a search on First Choice for a little more info. Their Execs and Engineers post here can't remember their handles though.

I haven't got my 3010 yet so I was just going by the specs in the brochure. It showed the width of the tractor to be approx 56" so I thought maybe the 5' tiller would cover the tracks. Maybe thats the measurement to the outside of axle or something. Do you think my 3010 would handle a 6' tiller ?? The pto hp on the 3010 is supposed to be 24+ hp and on the Kingkutter web site it recommends 35-50 hp.

I doubt the L3010 has enough power for the 72" tiller. My L3710 gets a workout with the 6' tiller. If you have nice loam and HST you might be able to get by. If you have a gear trans or have clay soil or need to turn sod or have lots of rocks forget the big tiller with the 3010.
