jd 4320; looking for a mid duty 6' rotary cutter. It seems for strength and durability, the MX6 and Bush hog sq 172 are reasonable choices. I am not a mechanical guy and I am interested in reliability. I will be clearing out trails and mowing a 3 acre plot.
please advise

Woods Brush Bull 6 footer, throw it in there as well. A one year old barely used one sold in this area yesterday for $850 at auction. Could have passed for new.

Wow, I certainly would include it but in my area (Pacific NW) the prices are much higher and I want to be relatively close to the dealer I buy it from

I own a MX6 and have been very pleased with it. If buying new today I would likely go with a medium or heavy duty Bush Hog brand unit. The older MX6 seems to have a history of the shaft breaking that drives the blades from the gear box. The new ones may not have this issue??? The cut quality on the MX6 is as good as or better than any I have run in the past.

Dear deere,
Thank you for your input. I am also looking at the Landpride 2072. It is a unit which the company stands behind and is made in U.S.A.

I have and have had several rotary cutters. I currently use a Frontier 2072 with my 4320. It is one of the smoothest running cutters I've owned, ie, very little noise and vibration. And, it cuts very well.

Have to add: All of my Woods and Bush Hog cutters have been very good.

I'm very happy with my 172 Rhino. Cuts very well and I like they way it's built.

Have put my old 1072 Frontier thru **** and back and it's still going strong. You can't get that model (replaced 2072) unless you pick one up used but it's a great cutter!

I asked the JD dealer what the difference is between the RC1072 and RC2072 and he did not know, says they look alike except for decals. Don't recall seeing complaints about either model here on TBN but there must be something different to change model number.
