I think I may bite the bullet and get a bush hog and perhaps a tiller. I have read several discussions about each but wanted to get help specifically with
1. Size of each that would be best for the hp of a CK30
2. Main areas are old well established pasture with fescue, bahaia and bermuda (with some small saplings). What is best bush hog for that?
3. Soil conditions are primarily sandy loam and should work well for tiller, especially after first run. I am assuming reverse till would be best?
4. While I do not want to spend a fortune, I would like to get a good long time performer without issues

I have a Land Pride FDR mower that has worked ok but has issues with the thick fescue, and anything wet. The belt slips and I have to raise it often in the toughest parts. I probably will just keep it at home for roadside mowing, or I may trade it in on the new bush hog.

Help steer me in the right direction. Thanks,

I have a CK5 with a 5' Howse brush hog and it can handle most everything I have thrown at it so far. Even wet Bermuda grass-- just go slow and keep it high enough to not bog down motor. As far as a tiller, I bit the bullet and got a King Cutter 60" from out local TSC store. I have used it for two years now without even so much as a scratch to it. It can till 5" deep in one pass and leave a picture smooth powder fine bed of soil behind it. I have also tilled other peoples yards-- one for re seeding entire yard and found that it can handle some roots even up to a 1-1/2" China Berry Tree that wrapped itself around it. If you do get a brush hog or a tiller I suggest you invest in a slip clutch drive link to it. Saves replacing shear bolts it you do hit something.

Our customers seem to prefer the New 5 ft Tarter Gear drive tiller and New 5 ft Big Bee Brush Hog with a 30 hp tractor. We have those for $2590 + 269 shipping to the Birmingham or Montgomery truck terminals or a compatible commercial business. Ken Sweet
