I would like to build a pull behind mower deck. Has anyone of you project guys done that? I want to offset pull it with my 2210. What old deck would be good to use? I am thinking about a 48" deck with a 12hp engine.

what if you welded 3 lawn mowers together then put one big engine with belts going to the outside, middle and outside mowers. then put either an offset hitch or a centerd hitch with a throttle and clucth controls on a magnetic plate. to stop or start the mower from the tractor.

If you can go to a used mower guy (or scour the paper, craigslist, etc) and find a 48" deck or whole mower, you should be able to cobble ke it up pretty cheap.

But why? Just to get done faster or ???

Used swishers can be had pretty easy for 500 dollars around here I would just keep my eye out for a couple of them.

I don't like a pull behind mower for these reasons
a=They want to slide sideways down the hill on slopes.
b=Are hard to back up so you can't mow in reverse.
c=You can't mow out over ditches and banks with them.
I would not build the mower as a tow behind unit.
Instead I would build it as a 3 point carried unit.
This resolves issues A B and C.
My plan is to make it as light as possible so as to reduce or eliminate the need for counter balancing.
A 22 to 30 inch deck with about 6 to 8 HP sounds about right.

Yeah Why ?

Because this is a "Build It Yourself" forum.. not a "Buy It Yourself" forum.

Of all the equipment I have around here, very very little was purchased and none of it hasn't been modified in some way. This is my $100 Swisher and my home made six foot mower. Takes off 11 feet at a time and 22 feet every go round.

I believe the why question leans more toward how come he wants an offset mower more so than why does he prefer building one over buying one.
Great looking tow behind in your picture, but you still can't mow out over banks and ditches with it.

Gottcha LB...I thought that was a bit strange coming from you! LOL
I reckon it depends on the size of the bank or ditch. When mowing the bank out front,I pull the Swisher behind the Wheel Horse with the tractor on the bank. Cutting the swale out back,I'll drop the Swisher down in on each side.
