Backhoe Bucket size for 757C backhoe?

I've got an opportunity to swap the 16" bucket that came with my new 757C hoe for a new 12" bucket.

I'll be using the hoe a lot for digging out stumps but I also want to be able to move some plain dirt when needed. I thought the 12" might be a good compromise since this isn't a particularly large, powerful hoe.

Georgia clay is hard when dry, sticky when wet, and the soil in my area is full of rocks ranging from marble-size to softball-size.

Please give me your thoughts.

I have a 16" bucket on my Woods Back Hoe. It will move more dirt but sometimes the bucket is just too big. I have thought about an 8" bucket for just trenching because a 16" makes a pretty good size trench. This is especially true when your only burying a 2 or 3 inch piece of conduit. Also the more narrow bucket will get clogged with clay more easily. I have heard that the more narrow bucket full of clay is sometimes not heavy enough to clear itself when placed in a dumping position.

The 12 inch bucket is what I use on our hoe. Think it's a good size for power digging in rocks and for breaking up roots. It might not hold as much dirt as the rest but the power is better directed because of the smaller bucket size.

I agree with PineRidge, I use a 12" bucket with my TC30 and BH 650 backhoe. Seems to work pretty good.

I have two buckets for my hoe, a 9" and 18" but if'n I were wanting just one size I'd go with the 12" for all the reasons that have already been given.

I have a 24" and a 12" bucket for my woods 7500. I have used both but if I had to choose it would be 12" hands down. It works best for all the reasons already given.
