Those hooks aren't going anywhere. Stout welds.

I kind of like the idea of a slip hook, what size you fellas recommend? Also, do they make 'em for weld on?

Size don't matter much with a slip hook, does it? You can buy a weld-on hook, or you can buy one with a clevis mount and cut the clevis off, or just leave the clevis on and weld the hook by its spine.

Sort of on-topic: I am waiting on our new (for us, anyway) L3130, which has a 6' bucket. I picked up two 10,000 lb rated forged tow hooks and a 10,000 lb D ring, all at Harbor Freight, for a total of about $15, thanks to a guy who let me use three 25% coupons. I plan on bolting the hooks, with reinforcement as needed, on the top where the loader arms are, and the D ring in the middle inside. Not sure where, until I see the bucket and can determine whether it is rigid enough or will need some reinforcing. I use a serious forged tow hook, salvaged off a 50's dump truck, on the bar behind for any serious pulling. Seemed easier than welding grab hooks- and my chains have grab hooks at one end and a slip hook at the other.

I, like Tom Seller, couldn't find a weld-on slip hook. So I modified a clevis type. I used a 1/2". Wouldn't hafta be that big.

Okay! It's about 1650 miles, CK27 says 13.1 MPH so 126 hours, or about 16 days at 8 hours a day. At a gallon an hour that's about $600 dollars. If I leave Saturday you should see me around April 13th! (Don't wait up) :shocked:

I, like Tom Seller, couldn't find a weld-on slip hook. So I modified a clevis type. I used a 1/2". Wouldn't hafta be that big.

I have searched HIGH and LOW myself, there is no such animal.

These are weld on anchor hooks that would allow a chain to slip. Weld-On Anchor Hooks | AW Direct Not inexpensive but would fit the bill. They also have the weld on grab hooks

I was referring to orangetoys, I think he lives up in Nixa, about 20 miles or so.

Well, if you want I will weld on your hooks for free, if you want to bring down your bucket. Or you can have the feeling of accomplishment of doing it yourself.:thumbsup:

I welded a 4" steel channel across the whole width of the bucket, then welded a 5/16 inch hook to that. I did that because I've seen buckets kinked where the hook was welded to a short piece of angle.
