Bucket Buddy II

Thanks to JB4310 for the idea.

Fabbed using 2" square tubing with .375 inch walls, two 4 ft pieces bought off of eBay for around $50 including shipping. Bought a 12" and 18" receiver from Harbor Freight, both were on sale for under $10 each. Cut six inches off the 12 and used for the middle brace. Welded using a Harbor Freight 130 amp DC inverter welder. Paid $160 for the welder, and I am very impressed. I had not welded in 25 years but picked it backup quickly.

It could pick up the old 6 ft box blade with a middle buster thrown in without issue.

Pretty slick boom. Well done. BUT (there's always a but ) I'd be careful of any side-loading on your bucket.....as in skidding logs and such with those tongs. Also, any swinging load could wreak havoc. Lotsa force out on the end of that pole to bend up your bucket if you aren't careful.

Having said that, I wish I had that boom today when I was loading my tiller and rotary cutter on a trailer for the trip north to my land.....my loader alone just doesn't quite reach far enough....but I got 'er done.

Looks good, I saw the title and thought that sounds familiar.

Plus you have the receiver tube on the end of the boom for more versatility, The only thing, I think you should have more surface contact on the bucket edge, a wider contact area would give you more lateral stability.

foggy, with the reach it's ideal for placing bulky items on a trailer, how heavy is the rotary cutter? if it's the weight of a brush hog that may be pushing it.
