The last thing I need to do right now with all my other job priorities is get into this but the owners son decide to change the blades on the Woods BrushBull we use to cut at the orchard where I work.

So after him wasting 5 hours getting nowhere giving little love taps with a 3lb hammer thru the access plate hole I got the 12lb sledge and using long pry bar we persuaded the retainer one side to give it up... but could not budge the pin loose and still working on the other side retainer. Left it all soaking in PB tonight

I figure there's been a good ten years of abuse...so any tips?

Suppose to be able to do it all thru the plate opening and still a PITA I could knock off the center nut with my Milwaukee 2763 and drop entire stump guard for easier access

Heat?

If the setup is the same as on my 72bbx, after you take off the hold down bolt and clip, there are two locking shims that need to be pushed towards the center of the mower to release the blade pin.

Yup that's the same setup and its all apart now. Soaking in penetrating fluid overnight must have really helped some. Plus I swung the hammer today! :D

Second retainer came off in three good swipes with the sledge and long bar and then pounded out the seized up pins with a 3 foot piece of 3/4 in steel rod. Will wire wheel clean all the components of rust and debris tomorrow morning and reassemble with the new blades.
