I've had a few pernicious inches on my property and I'm way behind schedule on clearing the land. Anybody here ever brush hog with 2-4" on the ground?

I never have. But I have an open station tractor and prefer the weather warm up some first

I recently had two acres done with about that much snow on the ground. Wished the ground was bare but needed the frozen ground also to be able to do that area properly. Only problem a few large rock tops were covered and hit that could have been avoided perhaps.

You are likely to hit a few more branches, limbs & rocks. However - if you already know that the area is clean - go at it. It will be a lot like the first time I would go down the driveway with my 3-point snow blower. My FOD was never 100%.

Ha, me too. I've got lots of layers and a yellow helly hansen pvc suit that goes on over that though so we'll see.

I hog with my bucket low. My cutter is a glorified rock detector regardless of conditions. How was your quality? Did you have to get lower than usual? How'd it go?

I can stick to open areas for now. Got a big thaw and rain next week. I've been flagging whenever I find something but they're useless in the snow.

Shouldn't be a problem, might be slower and you might have to keep you height up a little but if its a fluffy 2 to 4 inch you should be alright, I would give it a try ... if you would say 6 to 8'' then I would say that probably not going to work. I think your biggest concern would be hitting rocks covered in snow hopefully you don't have that issue ...I've never brush hog in the snow but I have brush hog cattails sticking out of water within a few inch of it without too much problem, it did slow it down when it cough water and would sound like a helicopter and almost stalled it a few time but it wasn't too bad if I was carful with it.
