I have ask on several sites if anyone had first hand knowledge about a mower that flipped up while using a chain. There was one dealer that was hot under the collar over the use of a chain that said that he had a customer that flipped one up. Given the circumstance, I didn't believe a word he said. I have yet to hear from anyone that has ever seen one or had one flip up with a chain even after asking the same question about 6 years.

Dunno about flipping up the 3pt cutter, but I have seen a 4' Bush Hog tow behind do the upside down jig until it starved for fuel after hitting a stump. Kinda makes you wonder.

If the 'hog has a chain top link, is there any reason why the front of the unit couldn't fetch up on a rock, stump, whatever and lever up and over, coming forward? I could see that happening a lot sooner than throwing a 4000 pound tractor over backwards.

I'm relatively new to this game, so only asking, not pretending to know anything.

When you're in thick brush bad things can happen quickly. And that's with you're bucket lowered to the ground and cutting in low gear.

A few years back the swamp dried up so I was cutting this serpentine haul trail threw some thick triple canopy like brush. I figured I was safe going real slow and it was so dry the cutting dust slowly contaminated my goggles over enough to obscure my vision.

My son come up waving his arms before I start a 2nd pass it seems my ROPS gently flopped and rolled a bees nest the size of a basket ball...and it was still left hanging. The thing is it HAD to roll over the top of my head too but seeing how the dust had limited my vision I probably figured it was a limb and didn't pay it any mind.

Now had I been in a hurry with that brush hog...totally different ending. btw a raccoon took care of the nest that night.
