I haven't even had a chance to get to the dealer yet. What the heck is a brush hog, just a heavy duty RFM? Two blades? How big of one will the BX run?

So much to learn so little time (or $$$) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Brush Hog = bush hog = rotary cutter... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My manual says 42" for a BX2200. I bet you could run a 48" without problem if you were not expecting to work it to the max (the cutter I mean). Still, I would myself go with the 42" if I could find one. The 48" seems quite common, not sure about availability of 42" units.

Stop down at TSC and look at their KK rotary cutters. All your questions will be answered real quick that way...Nice that you have a TSC so close to you.

TSC has a brush hog in their XB series for sub compacts. My local TSC didn't have one when I was there. I think they may be special order. They did have one of the XB series rear finish mowers which I want to check out quality wise next time I get to the store

The BX2230 and BX1830 will handle a 48" field mower. We sell both Rhino and Bush Hog brands and have had better luck at fitting the Bush Hog SQ480 because the mounting pins can be moved to the inside position and that makes it easier to hook up. Both of these mowers are 48" wide and handle up to 1" diameter material. You will probably need to shorten the drive line to install on your tractor.

My 42" GearMore brush cutter is great. It will cut anything. I especially like that it is the exact same width as my BX2200. That makes cutting between and around things much easier.

Where do they carry those?

You could also consider a BEFCO 42". It is one tough mower.
Suggestion get a slip clutch on the PTO drive. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way. Tried it with out the clutch, bit into a stump and stopped the BX 2200 dead. Fortunately, the tractor and mower were not damaged, but I am not willing to let the tractor and mower take that kind of beating again.
Just my thoughts.

For GearMore, go to this URL:

http://www.gearmore.com/

You should be able to find a dealer using the links. Rather than the clutch, it has a shear pin. Also, it has the spindled blades (as do most rough cutters) so usually if I hit something, the blade vectors off. If the impact point has enough resistance to absorb more than the full inertia, the shear pin will break before the engine stalls. I much prefer that to the clutch. Though I've never sheared the pin, it's not hard to replace one.
