Brush grubber HD in action

Well I picked up a Brush Grubber HD at Northern Tool. We put it to work for the first time today. Not a bad little piece of equipment. First pic is the BG hooked up, second pic is my wife doing the driving while I was moving the trees...

It appears that it is useful in serving your present needs. Teamwork is an added plus when using it. It saves one from getting on and off the tractor. :thumbsup:

I picked one up also to clear mesquite sapplings. It works and having a partner really helps. I also have been using it to tear down a old house trailer, put the grapple on anything it will fit around and it will come.
To avoid the mesquite thorns I just got the reciever hitch adapter yesterday. I am hoping that it will cut down on getting off the tracter and getting eat up with the thorns. Soon as I get a chance I will try to take some pictures of it in action.

Well, bad news for me. I have the brush grubber extreme and it will not fit the mount. Hmmmmm

Well, tried out the 2" receiver attachment today. It's nice not having to get out of the tractor. But, the actuator cable broke in about 20 min. Also had issues with 1" and smaller, I think that it may be due to deep mesquite roots. So it looks like I am still on the hunt for the ultimate mesquite up rootererer. Don't get me wrong, the grubber did well but not up to my expectations.

I've had good luck even with very small stuff with my tongs, as long as there is enough resistance to make the jaws close. I couldn't find a photo, so will work from this one of fireplace tongs.

Imagine the single curved jaw made from 1/2 inch steel plate, and the double curved jaws made from 1/4 inch steel, with a 1/2 inch space for the opposite jaw to close into. The jaws will close until there is no open space between the jaws.

I've got one of these if anyone is interested make me an offer. We bought it trying to get an impossible jam out of one of our mulchers. Doesn't work for that application. Used once and has sat around ever since.

I think I will have to get one of those, I have hundreds of very small saplings in an area I want to place a run in shed. That should make the job go much quicker.
