Kubota L345DT, Yanmar 1500D,
about 2 months ago I saw a NH on Ebay for sale that had a broken tranny case and engine block. Can't remember the model but it was around 25 to 40 HP. Now I see another NH 40HP with a broken tranny case. I'm sure they are two tractors. Anyone know if this is common on these tractors?

Al,

I don't think anything is designed or built to withstand all abuse. I have not heard any across the board design or manufacturing issue with NH tractors. I reckon any damage is possible if the operator put his mind to it. One common denominator usually happens to be improper use of tractor as dozer or back hoe use without proper under chassis mount to tie the front and rear of tractor avoiding twisting forces. Loose and not properly loader mount bolts can greatly contribute to tranny or block damage as well.

Seems strange two in such short time. One has a loader, the other one didn't when it was for sale but it might have.

Do you have links?

What is the real question you are asking (or point you a making)?

Are you looking to buy one of these, or do you already have a tractor?

Theres been a few stories of tractors breaking in half of late . I think it has to do with gravity . Gravity is 14psi and a tractor is wider at both ends than it is in the middle . This creates a pressure drop in the center which breaks the housings ........Just kidding , you can stop scratching your heads now :D:D.

If I saw the same one on ebay they said it slid down a hill sideways and hit a tree. You cant blame the tractor for breaking.

Your equation is not correct. You forgot to add in the operator sitting in the center of the tractor which will have the tendancy to increase the stress rate of gravity and don't forget about high pressure systems that blow in as the weather changes.

I went and looked for it just now and it is a TC34DA in Illinois. $4500.
Too bad it is so far away. I would buy such a project.
