Dumb Question: I have a brand new L2800 and after a grand total of 4.0 hours the fuel gauge still reads full. Is this normal? The gauge moves to full when I start it up. Of course the tank isn't full anymore when I look in it. Dealer says that's "normal". Thoughts?

thanks!

I just bought an L2800 when I got it showed 3/4 tank after 3 hours it was very close to E. When I filled it took 6.5 gallons meaning I had 2.5 gallons left when the gauge was (almost) on E. 2 hours after fill up the gauge has not moved from full. Maybe this is normal for this tractor.

I have an 05 L2800 and it takes awhile for the guage to come off of full. I usually wait till the guage just hits the red before I dump a five gallon container in it.
It won't top it off but I don't have to worry about spillage.

Ditto on 3400 hst- but while doing some real rough action "tractor vs stumps" work, it started working again. Suspect it got stuck when filled to brim.

My new L3400HST stays on full for at least half a tank, then starts down toward empty. I was wondering if it was totally broken, but it may be normal.

As long as it indicates empty when somewhere near empty, I'm OK with it.

That's the way my L3400HST is too. I ran it to near MT once so it does go down there. I don't know how many gallons it took since I have a gravity feed storage tank. It took a LOT of mowing to get there.

Got a 3400 HST. The fuel gage on mine is a bit funny.
Run the thing to almost below the red.
At that point, a five gallon can fills it up.
A 3400 has a 9 gallon tank-and if my tractor is typical-a 4 gallon reserve.
Not a big thing, but I bet I won't run out of fuel!!

Good Luck

I let my L3400 get almost to empty. Just above the red line at empty. Adding about a gallon of fuel brought it back to half full.
It only took six gallons to fill it up completely. So apparently, empty still has about 3 gallons left.
