After I checked the oil the other day on my BX, I noticed a small, orange, triangular piece of metal lying on the ground. It had a rubber bumper on it and after some poking around found that it was a gusset for the hood.
For you guys with first gen BX's, pop your hood and you'll find a welded on gusset that has a rubber bumper attached toward the radiator end of the hood. Check the welds, there just tacked on and I guess they failed from all the vibration.
