Broke fuel screen in fuel tank

Loving my LS XJ2025. 12 hours on it and zero problems. Today I was getting low on fuel so I filled up a 5 gal jug at the local shell station and brought it home to fill up the LS. I was filling the tank from my 5 gal jug when I busted through the white screen that is set inside the fuel filler hole. The screen broke loose from the filler neck and fell down inside the tank. I could not see the white screen after it and fallen down into the tank and couldn't find anything small enough to reach down in there and fish around for it. I ended up just filling the tank on and going back to work. I didn't notice any issues with the white plastic screen been down in the tank.

Anyone have any input? Any ideas on how to get it out? Should I just leave it floating in the tank and try a d source a new screen to pop in the filler and be done?

I'd just leave it. Probably never get it back up and could break off the plastic. You could always use a funnel with a screen or fuel can with a screen.

You could try using a flexible grab tool but don't know if you'll get it back out. I'm sure it's at the bottom of the tank and shouldn't affect anything. If you can grab it and get it to the filler neck then use a needle nose pliers to twist it to make it smaller than the filler neck so you can get it out. Replacement screens are available.

Those make sense on small engines but not tractors. I had those screens on all my small Honda engines and the Kenbota but just pull them out now. I had one fall into a tank and just used long needle nosed pliers to bring it up and another pair to flex and pull it out. If you keep your fuel cans clean, it shouldn't be a problem.
